The cryptocurrency market experienced significant volatility following Kevin Warsh's appointment as the new Federal Reserve leader, with SIREN recording one of the steepest declines among memecoins. According to reports from AMBCrypto, the token dropped from $1.1 to a low of $0.61, representing a 48.2% decline in 24 hours. At press time, SIREN traded at $0.62, nearly erasing all gains from its April-to-May rally. The sharp decline occurred as the broader crypto market reacted negatively to the early stages of new Fed leadership, largely due to investor uncertainty about potential policy changes. Warsh has pledged "regime change" and aligned with President Trump's desire for lower interest rates, creating additional market uncertainty about the Federal Reserve's future direction.
The selloff was characterized by significant activity in derivatives markets, with Open Interest falling 35% to $35 million while Derivatives Volume surged 515% to $288 million. As reported by AMBCrypto, this combination suggested traders rushed to close positions during the selloff. Futures Outflows climbed to $93 million compared to $88.7 million in inflows, with Futures Netflow dropping 473% to negative $4.7 million. On the spot market, Binance recorded sell volume of 50 million while buy volume stood near 45 million, with the exchange recording negative net buying of 23 million, highlighting aggressive selling activity. The derivatives market activity reflects broader market concerns about the Federal Reserve's independence facing unprecedented challenges from President Trump's attempts to influence monetary policy.
The decline accelerated as the Relative Strength Index (RSI) made a bearish crossover and dropped to 41, according to AMBCrypto analysis. This reading suggested sellers had taken firm control of short-term momentum. Historically, similar RSI structures have preceded additional downside pressure during heavy selloffs. If risk-off sentiment persists, SIREN could lose the $0.6 support level and slide toward $0.54. To slow the decline, the memecoin would need a daily close above $0.7, with a recovery above $0.8 potentially strengthening the case for a broader trend reversal. The technical indicators suggest continued pressure as long as the RSI remains below 50, indicating sustained selling momentum in the cryptocurrency market.
