Robinhood has signed a multi-year deal to route selected event contracts through OG.com's federally regulated derivatives platform while taking equity stakes in both companies. According to the latest announcement, Robinhood will receive initial minority stakes in both Crypto.com and the newly independent OG.com, with pricing following Citadel Securities' recent investment terms. Crypto.com was valued at $20 billion in that transaction, while OG.com received a standalone valuation of $5 billion after separating from Crypto.com. As reported by Reuters, this multi-year partnership represents OG.com's largest B2B prediction markets partnership in terms of transaction volumes, with the agreement designating OG.com as an infrastructure and clearing provider for Robinhood's Prediction Markets offering.
Starting Tuesday, Robinhood will route selected football contracts to OG.com's federally regulated derivatives exchange and clearinghouse, which operates under the oversight of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission. As reported by Reuters, the rollout of OG.com-backed event contracts on the Robinhood app will begin in phases to eligible U.S. customers starting on September 8, 2026. The phased rollout will start with selected football contracts as the U.S. professional football season begins, with contracts covering economic indicators, elections, sports, and cultural events following gradually in the Robinhood app. Prediction Markets on Robinhood are offered by Robinhood Derivatives, LLC, a registered futures commission merchant with the CFTC and Member of National Futures Association.
The prediction markets business has emerged as a significant revenue driver for Robinhood, generating $156 million in revenue during the second quarter, according to Reuters. This figure represents a quarterly record for the company's event-contract business. A June Bernstein revenue forecast estimates that Robinhood's prediction markets could generate $586 million in 2026, up from $150 million in 2025. The research firm estimates the business could contribute about 17% of Robinhood's transaction-based revenue and 10% of total company revenue during 2026. By routing contracts to OG.com, Robinhood is expanding its existing prediction markets offering, making it an even higher-capacity engine capable of handling institutional-grade liquidity, instant clearing, and a more dynamic event catalog expansion across macroeconomic indicators, global sports, elections, and cultural milestones.
Market reaction to the announcement showed mixed results, with HOOD trading at $122.02 while Crypto.com-linked CRO gained about 5.3% to $0.0604. According to Reuters, Robinhood is also preparing a dedicated election hub ahead of the November 2026 U.S. midterms, with the hub carrying contracts linked to state and federal races. The company has also entered underwriting, allowing Robinhood Securities to help bring companies to public markets, while Robinhood Chain has drawn heavy decentralized trading activity since its July 1 public launch. As noted by PRNewswire, Robinhood is further improving its execution layer with an established exchange infrastructure offering deep liquidity, ensuring strict federal compliance under CFTC oversight while supporting Crypto.com and OG.com's broader vision to establish two category-defining financial powerhouses in digital assets and regulated derivatives.
Despite OG.com's CFTC-regulated status, prediction market providers continue to face disputes over whether sports contracts fall under federal derivatives law or state gambling rules. According to Reuters, attorneys general from 44 states challenged the CFTC in July, asking the regulator to withdraw and rewrite its proposed rules for sports-related event contracts. Court decisions have produced different results across the country, with judges in Michigan and Washington temporarily restricting certain sports contracts, while a federal judge blocked Minnesota from enforcing its prediction market ban as litigation continues. The operational separation of OG.com into a standalone entity creates dedicated agility and specialized capital allocation required to power high-frequency prediction markets while maintaining strict federal compliance.
