Quantum Solutions sold 1,000 ETH for $1.9 million on July 30 through its consolidated subsidiary, GPT Pals Studio Limited, as reported by multiple sources. The Tokyo-listed company has redirected proceeds toward its AI Infrastructure Data Center business, reducing the group's Ethereum balance to 4,764.80 ETH. This marks the second time this year the company has trimmed its position to fund this strategic shift, signaling that its AI ambitions are now taking precedence over its crypto treasury strategy. The latest transaction builds on a funding strategy announced in June, when Quantum Solutions first disclosed plans to sell part of its Ethereum treasury to finance the rollout of its AI infrastructure business. The sale is expected to produce a loss of approximately $100,970 in the second quarter of the fiscal year ending February 2027. The proceeds will fund the purchase of Nvidia B300 and GB300 GPU systems, which are expected to power a new AI data center in Japan, following a Memorandum of Understanding signed with Integrated Capital on June 1, 2026.
Following the latest sale, Quantum Solutions has lost its title as Japan's largest corporate ETH holder among listed companies. According to company documents, the company now holds approximately 4,764.80 ETH, below Def Consulting's 4,976 ETH, marking a significant shift in Japan's crypto treasury landscape. The company has sold a total of 1,904 ETH in less than two months, representing approximately 28.6% of its prior holding of 6,668.8 ETH. Previously, GPT Pals sold 904 ETH on June 16, cashing out approximately $1.6 million. The company purchased the majority of its ETH during the peak of the crypto market in the fourth quarter of 2025, when ETH prices ranged between $4,000 and $4,500, making the current sale prices significantly below its acquisition cost.
The company has raised its maximum authorized sale amount from 1,875 ETH to 4,375 ETH, adding 2,500 ETH to the earlier authorization adopted on June 4. With 1,904 ETH already sold, the company now has room to sell up to an additional 2,471 ETH, equivalent to roughly 52% of its current holdings. According to the filing, this change provides more flexibility to fund data-center usage agreements, GPU equipment, launch preparations and related operating costs. The market is watching how much of the remaining amount available for sale Quantum Solutions will actually dispose of by the end of October, and how quickly the secured funds will be deployed into AI business including AI data center construction and expansion of GPU infrastructure. The company has stated it does not intend to sell up to its new limit immediately, with future sales dependent on ETH price movement, broader market conditions, the pace of AIDC business progress, and ongoing funding requirements.
GPT Pals received a net $1,903 per ETH in the July transaction, with Quantum having marked the assets at $2,003.97 each on May 31, leaving a $100.97 difference per token. The company therefore expects a $100,970 realized loss, equal to roughly $100,000 at its stated exchange rate. The charge reflects accounting treatment rather than operating cash flow, as the proceeds remain available to fund the AI project. Quantum uses fair-value accounting and records valuation changes at each quarter-end, comparing sale prices with the latest carrying value under its moving-average method. Despite the latest sale, Quantum still owns around 4,764.80 ETH, currently valued at nearly $9.2 million. The July 30 sale price came in below the company's book value as of the end of May, contributing to the expected quarterly loss. However, 3,050 of those tokens have remained pledged to a Singapore-based lender as collateral since April, leaving only 1,714.80 ETH in GPT's trading account that is actually available for immediate sale.
