Pump.fun [PUMP] has experienced significant volatility, declining 13.3% to approximately $0.00507 on October 13, 2026, following the release of Bitquery's comprehensive study on Solana sandwich attacks. According to CoinGecko data, PUMP underperformed major cryptocurrencies significantly, with Bitcoin trading near $83,430 (-0.4%), Ether at $2,515 (-1.6%), and Solana at $108 (-3.8%). The token has been in retracement over the past two weeks alongside broader market selling pressure, with PUMP ranking about #47 by market value with a 24-hour high near $0.00602 and low near $0.00479. The current decline represents a correction of 25.8% over the past nine days as of writing, with prices falling toward $0.00430 and leaving the late September rally increasingly vulnerable.
Blockchain data provider Bitquery published comprehensive data on sandwich attacks targeting Solana between October 30, 2025, and October 7, 2026. As reported by CryptoSlate, 6,850,144 attacks were made by 2,545 bot wallets against 2,154,994 different wallets, with 96% of detected attacks occurring on the Pump.fun platform where most new Solana memecoins start trading. The bots successfully extracted $29.7 million gross before costs over approximately 11 months, with 39% of this amount coming from other rival bots. The $29.7 million estimate was calculated using SOL prices at the time of attack and does not measure net profit since some attacks resulted in losses after costs. CoinMarketCap's Top Story attributes PUMP's roughly 9-11% slide mainly to this study's sentiment impact amid mild altcoin risk-off conditions.
Despite recent volatility, PUMP has maintained an uptrend since early August when the $0.00225 swing high was breached. However, repeated attempts to breach higher levels demonstrated that buyer momentum was being diminished, with prices initially remaining in a range of approximately $0.00530 through $0.00600. Following the drop below $0.00525, selling increased rapidly as the market also lost its consolidation floor, with subsequent falls in price below $0.00475 deepening losses further. The current RSI reading of 26.09 indicates over-sold conditions, though weak momentum could persist unless buyers absorb selling near $0.004226. Holding this level may encourage a relief bounce toward $0.00475, where former support could attract renewed selling. However, a breakdown could expose $0.00380–$0.00400, extending losses and weakening confidence in PUMP's recovery.
Despite buybacks capping circulating supply, their impact remains minimal due to their slower pace. Daily revenue rose to $1.95 million, which facilitated $976,200 in buy backs that eliminated 0.019% of total supply. However, PUMP's trading volume has cooled significantly, with daily turnover falling to $489.2 million on October 13 from a peak near $840 million in late August and September. PumpSwap contributed nearly $333 million while Pums' bonding curve contributed just under $157 million. This shows that secondary-market swaps generate nearly all of Pumps' trading activity, highlighting the difference between platform usage and token demand. For recovery to materialize, both sustained volume increase and greater buying demand need to emerge, with PUMP's recovery ultimately dependent on defending $0.004226, renewed buying demand, and stronger activity to offset selling pressure.
