NFT sales reached approximately $55.51 million over the seven days ending September 26, representing a 57.17% increase from the prior seven-day period, according to CryptoSlam data captured on September 26. The surge was accompanied by significant growth in market participation, with buyer addresses increasing 39.65% to 160,565 and transactions rising 5.93% to 825,513. Seller addresses also rose 39.19% to 150,410, indicating increased market activity across the NFT ecosystem.
Ethereum dominated blockchain performance with $30.33 million in sales, representing a substantial 113.52% increase from the previous period, with the network's 19,043 buyer addresses up 40.61%. The 113.52% increase more than doubled Ethereum's sales from the prior period, establishing its clear dominance in the NFT market. Polygon ranked second with $7.44 million in sales, up 6.66%, while Bitcoin followed with $5.13 million in sales, up 18.33%, though its buyer addresses climbed more significantly at 45.89% to 7,938. The six leading chains from Ethereum through Immutable accounted for approximately $51.23 million in sales, representing most of the global figure.
CryptoPunks topped collection rankings with $8.24 million in sales, up an impressive 1,066.53% from the prior period, according to CryptoSlam data. The collection recorded 85 transactions, 62 buyer addresses and 55 seller addresses, with transactions rising 844.44% and buyer addresses increasing 520%. Courtyard on Polygon ranked second with $6.56 million in sales, up 6.67%, though its 111,471 transactions were down 7.54% and buyer addresses declined 14.29%.
The week's largest individual sale was Beezie #4365 on Base, which traded for approximately $1 million in 1 million USDC, representing about 1.8% of global seven-day NFT sales. This transaction alone accounted for roughly $1.69 million of Base's $3.30 million weekly sales. The next two largest sales came from $X@AI BRC-20 NFTs on Bitcoin, with one selling for approximately $519,364 (5.9999 BTC) and another for $409,140 (5 BTC). These three transactions totaled approximately $2.70 million, or roughly 4.9% of CryptoSlam's global seven-day sales.
The NFT increase occurred alongside broader cryptocurrency market gains, with Bitcoin trading near $83,914, up 3.60% over seven days, and Ethereum near $2,686, up 2.70%. According to CoinGecko, the total crypto market capitalization reached approximately $2.97 trillion. The rise in NFT activity coincided with gains in major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum, suggesting renewed investor interest in digital assets. However, market expert Adam Back, Blockstream CEO, has raised concerns about NFT valuations, stating that Justin Bieber's $1.3 million Bored Ape NFT has negative value, though he spared Bitcoin from such criticism. Back's assessment highlights the volatility in the NFT market, where celebrity-backed tokens like Bieber's Bored Ape Yacht Club #3001, purchased for 500 ETH in January 2022, now trade at approximately 99% below entry value despite the collection's floor sitting near 6.25 ETH.
