Nexo Australia has achieved a significant regulatory milestone by securing appointment as a Credit Representative under the National Consumer Credit Protection Act, effective August 18, 2026. This authorization positions Nexo among a small group of digital asset platforms allowed to lend against crypto collateral under formal consumer credit oversight. The company operates under Credit Representative Number 580430 and its regulated credit products are serviced by Avgi Pty Ltd, which holds Australian Credit Licence 567308. According to company disclosures, becoming a credit representative does not mean Nexo Australia holds its own Australian credit licence, as ASIC guidance allows a company to conduct authorised activities on behalf of an existing licensee. The authorization lets Nexo roll out a full suite of borrowing and wealth products for Australians holding digital assets, operating under the same consumer protection rules that govern traditional lenders.
The new Credit Lines offer enhanced functionality beyond traditional crypto lending, featuring Collateral Exchange that allows clients to swap between eligible collateral assets without interrupting an active Credit Line. The Nexo Booster enables clients to magnify their digital assets by up to 3x, using newly created positions as additional collateral. Interest rates range from 0.9% to 21.9% annually, depending on the product and client's loyalty tier, with no fixed terms or origination fees. Funds are typically available within 24 hours and customers can make flexible repayments while exchanging eligible collateral without closing their existing credit line. The products are available in both AUD and stablecoins with dedicated AUD account numbers for deposits, addressing common delays and transfer errors that have frustrated Australians moving money into crypto platforms. Nexo says it is one of the few digital asset credit providers in Australia offering disbursements in either AUD or stablecoins.
The launch comes at a strategic time as nearly one in three Australians now owns cryptocurrency, while Australia recorded A$9.8 billion in new personal fixed-term loan commitments in the March quarter of 2026, up 14.5% year-on-year. According to Peter Stanhope, General Manager for Australia at Nexo, "The Australian market is ready for a better, more integrated model. We built these products to give Australian clients highly cost-competitive credit and the ability to put their digital assets to work, whilst assessing each product against the applicable Australian framework, and building regulatory requirements and consumer protections into the design from the outset." The Credit Lines let eligible clients access liquidity against their digital assets without selling them, preserving long-term market exposure even while accessing cash. Nexo's platform combines advanced technology with a client-first approach, offering Nexo Growth, crypto-backed loans, trading tools, and liquidity solutions, including a crypto-backed card in certain markets.
The company reintroduced its yield product as Nexo Growth, advertising returns of up to 10% annually on supported assets, with rates varying by asset and term. According to Nexo Australia, Flexible Growth accrues returns daily and permits withdrawals on request, while Fixed Term Growth requires customers to commit assets for a defined period in exchange for a higher advertised rate. The company states that Growth returns are not guaranteed, as customers transfer ownership of deposited assets to Nexo Australia and receive an unsecured contractual claim in return. The program has received recognition as Best Wealth Client Loyalty Programme for Digital CX at the 2025 Digital CX Awards by The Digital Banker. The rollout builds on Nexo's existing footprint in the country, including its role as the first Official Crypto Partner of the Australian Open.
Nexo Australia is registered with AUSTRAC as a digital currency exchange provider and belongs to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA). The company's Australian business number has been active since June 2023 according to the Australian Business Register. Nexo Australia has lodged an AFSL application with ASIC within the period contemplated by ASIC's class no-action position dated June 25, 2026 and conducts itself consistently with that position while the application is under consideration. The Credit Lines, together with the Nexo Booster and Wealth Club loyalty programme, join Nexo's existing Nexo Exchange and the newly rebranded Growth product, bringing Nexo's full suite together under one unified platform in Australia. The platform's Wealth Club loyalty program rewards higher platform activity with better Credit Line rates, cashback, and premium perks ranging from merchandise and event tickets to hospitality access across four tiers.
