According to reports from AMBCrypto, Phemex News, and Crypto.news, Kraken has introduced multiple AVAX staking and earning options for global users, including bonded staking, flexible staking, and an 'Auto Earn' product that automatically restakes rewards. The exchange announced that bonded staking will initially offer yields of up to 10% APY, then adjust to 7% later. Flexible staking and Auto Earn products offer up to 3.5% APY. The geographic scope of the rollout includes the United States (excluding New York and Maine), UK, EU, Canada, and Australia. As reported by The Bit Journal, Kraken will manage validator infrastructure internally, allowing users to earn rewards without handling complex node operations themselves. Kraken officially launched its AVAX staking service on May 21, marking the formal availability of these enhanced staking options for users.
As reported by AMBCrypto, 210.6 million AVAX is currently staked across the network, representing a staking ratio of about 44.67%. The network currently has 679 validators, while native staking rewards sit near 6.7% APY. These figures suggest Avalanche staking participation is already well established rather than underdeveloped, making Kraken's move less about introducing staking access and more about competing to capture idle AVAX liquidity inside exchange ecosystems.
According to The Bit Journal, Kraken's latest rollout allows users to access AVAX staking directly through Kraken's custodial infrastructure instead of operating validators independently on-chain. This eliminates the technical barriers that often discourage users from participating in blockchain validation, including technical knowledge, wallet management, uptime monitoring, and security maintenance. However, as noted by The Bit Journal, Flexible Staking only allocates a portion of user assets to active staking, allowing customers to earn rewards on up to 50% of their chosen allocation rather than their entire balance. The company did not disclose minimum staking requirements, lock-up periods, or withdrawal waiting times for the different staking options.
As reported by Phemex News and Crypto.news, this initiative comes as AVAX trades around $9.39, down 58.7% over the past year, with the new staking options aimed at boosting demand and network security. Kraken's Director of Earn Products, John Zettler, emphasized the simplicity of their staking offerings, stating that "Staking AVAX has always been possible, but for most holders it's meant managing validators and technical complexity. We made it simple for clients to participate in protocol staking across various Earn offerings. Kraken runs the infrastructure." Ava Labs' Chief Business Officer, John Nahas, highlighted the importance of removing technical barriers to increase participation in Avalanche staking, noting that "Making staking simple and accessible is core to expanding participation in the Avalanche ecosystem." The expansion strengthens collaboration between Kraken and Ava Labs, with all rewards being automatically restaked to allow users to compound returns without managing validators. From a technical perspective, AVAX is exhibiting a Strong sell technical sentiment with 5 out of 6 technical indicators flashing sell signals, while the cryptocurrency trades below key moving averages and faces resistance at $9.508.
