Ethereum has remained pinned near the $1,500 support zone after completing its first-ever streak of three consecutive quarterly losses, with the decline representing a 25% quarterly drop. According to data from crypto.news, ETH traded around $1,580 at the time of writing, down roughly 5.3% over the past seven days. The selling pressure intensified after the Ethereum Foundation announced a restructuring on June 23 that included a 20% workforce reduction and 40% budget cut, raising fresh concerns about development spending. Large holders continued reducing exposure, with Ethereum whales selling roughly 550,000 ETH over the past week, while one whale exited a 2,468 ETH position after holding it for more than five months, realizing a loss of about $4.33 million after selling near $1,572. However, ETH has shown recent resilience, trading up roughly 3% over the past 24 hours to around $1,617, though the broader crypto market remains under pressure with total crypto market cap slipping 1% to $2.11 trillion.
Despite Ethereum's current struggles, corporate treasury activity has continued to favor the cryptocurrency. Bitmine disclosed purchasing 27,084 ETH during the past week, increasing its holdings to roughly 5.7 million ETH valued at nearly $9 billion, representing approximately 4.7% of Ethereum's circulating supply and most of which is staked. SharpLink also expanded its position by acquiring 10,000 ETH at an average purchase price of about $1,611, spending approximately $16.1 million to expand its treasury. However, ETH remains down roughly 25% for the quarter and is on track to record its third consecutive quarterly decline, which would be the first such streak in the asset's history. According to Onchain Lens, Bitmine currently holds approximately 4.7% of the total Ethereum supply and continues to stake its holdings, while weak institutional demand on Coinbase is flagged as a limiting factor for potential recovery.
Technical indicators continue to favor sellers despite Ethereum stabilizing around the $1,500-$1,600 range. ETH is trading inside a descending channel, below both the 100-day and 200-day moving averages on daily and 4-hour timeframes, with the 24-hour range of $1,550 to $1,600 reflecting indecision rather than accumulation. Resistance is stacking around $1,600 where price has repeatedly stalled, while the 78.6% Fibonacci retracement around $1,695 forms the next major resistance level. Momentum indicators have yet to confirm a reversal, with the daily RSI remaining near 36 and MACD beginning to flatten after weeks of decline. On the 4-hour chart, Chaikin Money Flow has climbed back above zero, suggesting buyers have started returning, although the recovery remains limited while price stays below key resistance. Derivatives positioning shows the largest short liquidation cluster around $1,590-$1,600, while a much larger concentration of long liquidations has built between roughly $1,530 and $1,545.
Robert Kiyosaki's March forecast projecting ETH at $95,000 by mid-2027 has resurfaced across crypto social media, though this macro reset thesis is tied to a global financial crisis scenario that would trigger sharp repricing of hard and alternative assets. The forecast includes Bitcoin reaching $750,000, gold to $35,000 per ounce, silver to $200, and Ethereum to $95,000 within a year of the event. However, the current technical setup needs considerable improvement before either longer-range thesis becomes actionable for active traders. ETH reclaiming and holding above $1,600 would open a path back toward $1,800 to $2,000, requiring a reversal in ETF flows and regulatory clarity or macro risk-on shift. Without such catalysts, consolidation continues between $1,500 and $1,600 with buyers defending the level but lacking the firepower to push through overhead resistance, while a daily close below $1,500 would open accelerated selling with no obvious technical floor until $1,300 to $1,350.
