According to reports from Jefferies, the Wall Street investment bank expects a massive wave of crypto and blockchain public listings over the next two years as institutional investors shift their focus from speculative trading to real-world financial infrastructure. The bank projects the sector could grow into a $1 trillion public market within five years, representing a significant expansion from current levels. This projection comes after the crypto IPO market experienced a slowdown following a booming 2025 that saw several digital asset firms successfully go public amid rising bitcoin prices and renewed investor appetite for crypto-related stocks. The outlook follows Jefferies' inaugural Digital Assets Investor Conference in New York, where investor sentiment reflected growing confidence that blockchain technology is moving beyond the experimental stage and becoming part of mainstream financial infrastructure.
As reported by Jefferies, institutional investors are becoming more convinced that blockchain technology is moving beyond experimentation into core financial infrastructure. The bank's report, published after its first Digital Assets Investor Conference in New York, highlighted that conversations with clients showed investors are focusing on emerging beneficiaries including banks, exchanges, asset managers, fintechs and payments companies that are integrating blockchain infrastructure. The conference, which gathered executives from 35 digital asset companies alongside roughly 150 institutional investors, emphasized discussions about blockchain systems rather than bitcoin price speculation. This institutional momentum was evident in 2025, when several leading cryptocurrency companies including Circle Internet Group (NYSE: CRCL), Bullish (NYSE: BLSH), and Gemini (Nasdaq: GEMI) made their public debuts amid a market boom.
According to Jefferies, tokenization—the process of representing financial assets on blockchain networks—was identified as one of the biggest drivers behind the institutional shift. The bank identified tokenization, which means turning real-world assets into digital tokens on blockchains, as a key catalyst driving the transition from experimental to mainstream blockchain adoption. Executives at the conference said tokenized money market funds, private credit products and blockchain-based settlement systems are already moving into production following recent regulatory guidance that reduced legal uncertainty around digital assets. The bank pointed to the proposed CLARITY Act, which would establish a broader market structure framework for digital assets in the U.S., as legislation that could become 'the missing piece' that drives more institutional investments, particularly among large and heavily regulated financial institutions.
As reported by Jefferies, traditional financial firms are increasingly partnering with crypto-native infrastructure providers rather than competing directly with them. Panelists at the conference described a growing ecosystem where banks, trading platforms and payments firms use blockchain networks to reduce settlement times, improve capital efficiency and launch new financial products. Stablecoins and tokenized payments were repeatedly cited as key areas of near-term growth, especially as payment companies look for ways to lower the cost of cross-border transfers and operate around the clock. Recent partnerships include tokenization firm Securitize partnering with transfer agent Computershare and crypto platform Bullish acquiring transfer agent Equiniti for $4.2 billion. Despite the crypto market crash in October 2025 and ongoing geopolitical tensions that put a break on public offerings, BitGo Holdings (NYSE: BTGO) offered its IPO in January 2026 and Blockchain.com recently filed to go public, indicating continued institutional interest in digital asset infrastructure.
Adding to the crypto IPO momentum, Genius Group (GNS) has announced a significant strategic shift, launching its AGI Infinity Portfolio with a $100 million initial investment targeting artificial intelligence opportunities. The Singapore-based education company's board has approved this dual-pronged treasury strategy that combines Bitcoin investments with AI exposure, with plans to grow the portfolio to $800 million over five years. According to the company's disclosure, the portfolio will provide shareholders with exposure to a variety of AI, robotics, and space companies, starting with pre-IPO investments in major players including SpaceX, OpenAI, Anthropic, Figure AI, Replit, Anduril, and Databricks. This expansion beyond crypto-related opportunities reflects the broader institutional trend toward diversified blockchain and AI investments, as evidenced by the company's stock gaining attention with message volumes on Stocktwits more than quadrupling over the last 24 hours.
