Hyperscale Data has executed its first Bitcoin sale, monetizing approximately 100 BTC to accelerate construction of its artificial intelligence data center in Michigan. According to the company's Thursday press release, proceeds from the Bitcoin sale are being used to fund construction and purchase critical infrastructure and long-lead equipment for the Michigan campus. This strategic move represents a capital allocation strategy aimed at accelerating construction, funding long-lead equipment purchases and lowering reliance on equity financing while preserving a substantial portion of its Bitcoin reserves. The company first adopted its Bitcoin treasury strategy in September 2025, and following this inaugural sale, Hyperscale Data still holds 1,006 Bitcoin worth about ₹540 crore ($65 million), making it the 44th-largest public corporate Bitcoin holder according to BitcoinTreasuries.NET data. The sale occurred on July 30, 2026, with Bitcoin trading near $64,800 at the time, making the 100 BTC worth approximately $6.5 million. GPUS shares rose in early Thursday trading following the announcement, reflecting positive market response to the strategic funding decision.
The Michigan campus supports an earlier master services agreement with a neo-cloud AI infrastructure provider. As reported by Hyperscale Data, the initial phase covers approximately 20 megawatts of computing capacity with a 10-year term and includes two optional five-year extensions. The company estimates the contract could produce more than $1.2 billion in revenue if the customer exercises all options attached to the initial capacity. Additionally, the customer can request another 32 MW within the first two years, which could push the contract's total value to exceed $3 billion if all expansion options are exercised. According to Investing.com, the agreement provides the customer with rights to an additional 32 megawatts of capacity which, if exercised within the first two years and continued through extension options, would be expected to result in total contract revenue exceeding $3.0 billion. The customer is a California-based neo-cloud AI provider with whom Alliance Cloud Services signed the agreement on June 24, 2026, and the facility is expected to go live in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The company secured a BTC-backed credit facility with expected interest rates of 4.5% to 5% to fund construction and equipment purchases for the Michigan AI campus. According to Hyperscale Data, this Bitcoin-backed financing demonstrates how the company's Bitcoin treasury can be used as a strategic funding source rather than a passive balance sheet asset. The facility allows the company to raise additional capital against its remaining Bitcoin holdings, providing access to lower-cost capital and reducing future shareholder dilution while preserving meaningful Bitcoin ownership. As reported by Investing.com, the company established a credit facility allowing it to borrow capital at variable interest rates expected to range from approximately 4.5% to 5.0%, with bitcoin pledged as security for loan repayment. However, the company has not disclosed the total size of the facility or specific loan-to-value terms to investors.
Milton "Todd" Ault III, Executive Chairman, stated that after carefully evaluating capital allocation priorities, the company concluded that accelerating development of the Michigan Campus is in the best interests of stockholders. William Horne, Chief Executive Officer, emphasized that this decision does not constitute a change in the company's long-term conviction regarding Bitcoin. As reported by PRNewswire, Horne described the move as shifting one balance sheet asset for another, stating that "By selectively monetizing and financing against a portion of our Bitcoin holdings, we are shifting one balance sheet asset for another. We believe that increasing our cash available to develop our AI infrastructure will generate significant long-term recurring cash flow." Hyperscale Data recently reported holding about $71 million in Bitcoin, representing a significant portion of its total holdings. The company believes this capital allocation strategy provides several important benefits: accelerating Michigan Campus development, providing access to low-cost, non-equity capital, reducing stockholder dilution, and converting digital assets into long-lived AI infrastructure expected to generate recurring cash flows. The company intends to continue evaluating the appropriate balance among holding Bitcoin, utilizing Bitcoin-backed financing and selectively deploying Bitcoin capital to support high-return strategic investments, subject to market conditions and broader corporate objectives.
Despite Thursday's positive response, GPUS shares remain near the bottom of their 52-week range of 11 cents to 83 cents and are down 84.73% over the past year. The stock trades below all major moving averages: 8.3% below the 20-day SMA, 30.1% below the 50-day SMA, 25.3% below the 100-day SMA, and 45.8% below the 200-day SMA. However, the company has expanded its land at the Michigan site to about 83 acres and cited long-term power potential above 300 megawatts, pending permits, utility agreements, and financing. Hyperscale Data has also flagged plans to divest its private equity businesses by the second quarter of 2027, narrowing its focus on data centers and digital assets. Investors will be watching whether the unnamed customer exercises its 32-megawatt option, how quickly the initial 20 megawatts comes online, and whether the company draws on the new credit line as the facility progresses toward completion.
