
According to reports from AMBCrypto and the latest announcement, Hyperbridge has fully redesigned its interoperability architecture following the April 13 exploit that forced the protocol offline. In a June 15 announcement, the protocol confirmed that bridging operations have resumed after what it described as a complete architectural overhaul rather than a simple exploit patch. The relaunch represents a fundamental shift from the previous centralized infrastructure to what is now being described as the first interoperability hyperstructure - a fully permissionless and decentralized model where administrative keys are defunct and centralization is purged.
As reported by AMBCrypto, one of the protocol's biggest changes involves cross-chain proof generation. Previously, only the Polytope Labs team generated and submitted the zero-knowledge proofs used to verify Polkadot consensus on EVM chains. Hyperbridge now says proof generation is fully permissionless, with any operator able to run the open-source prover, submit cryptographic proofs, and earn rewards without requiring approval from the team. Submitted proofs are now published on-chain and can be independently verified by relayers, developers, and downstream users. The protocol has made drastic changes to its entire stack, starting with fully permissionless provers that are now incentivized by native tokens paid from its treasury which holds 35% of the token supply.
According to the announcement, Hyperbridge removed several centralized governance mechanisms and operational components. The protocol eliminated its sudo governance pallet, which previously allowed the core team to make emergency network changes, and future network upgrades now require token-holder voting. Treasury disbursements must pass through public governance authorization, while collator slots are now assigned based on reputation earned through network activity rather than team appointment. Team-appointed block builders have been replaced in favor of a permissionless election system powered by reputation tokens that can only be earned by provers and relayers.

The new design allows issuers to customize security policies without requiring protocol-wide coordination. Under the old model, every token routed through a single gateway with a single set of rules, leaving issuers no control over how their asset behaved across chains. Under the new model, each token is its own self-contained application, deployed and controlled entirely by the issuer, with its own contract address, pause keys, and rate-limiting logic. The relaunch introduces a subscription-based economic model for cross-chain bandwidth, with applications paying stablecoin-denominated fees for interoperability services.
According to the latest announcement, Hyperbridge launched a LayerZero-compatible adapter to attract existing omnichain applications. The protocol described the adapter as allowing existing OFTs and OApps to integrate Hyperbridge's ISMP transport layer without requiring migration or redeployment. The HyperbridgeLzEndpoint removes the need to rebuild from scratch by implementing the ILayerZeroEndpointV2 interface but routing messages through Hyperbridge's transport layer, backed by zero-knowledge proofs rather than multisig signers. Any existing OFT or OApp can make the switch by changing a single configuration parameter, with no migration or redeployment required.
During the downtime following the April 13 security incident, Hyperbridge conducted a rigorous audit with SRLabs and dispensed over $150,000 through HackenProof to more than 20 security researchers in under a week. The relaunch introduces tiered bandwidth plans for cross-chain applications, with subscriptions ranging from $50 to $1,000 payable using stablecoins on any chain of choice. Applications can upgrade their selected tier at any time if they surpass their current bandwidth limit, ensuring continuous operations.
