Midnight (NIGHT) has surged over 22% in 24 hours to reach $0.044, extending its remarkable 84% weekly rally as renewed attention on blockchain privacy and institutional use cases drives the token toward its strongest levels in months. According to CoinGecko, NIGHT now trades with a market capitalization around $727 million and trading volume has climbed above $120 million during the same period. The rally accelerated after WallStreetBets founder Jaime Rogozinski argued that privacy could become increasingly important as institutions move larger amounts of capital onchain, highlighting the transparency concerns of public blockchains where large institutions can expose wallet balances and transaction activity to anyone with access to block explorers.
The latest breakout gives NIGHT a bullish bias with immediate resistance at $0.044-0.045 and $0.038 remaining an important pullback reference price level. According to technical analysis, NIGHT is now trading well above its upper Bollinger Band, showing price has stretched far above its 20-day average while volatility has increased sharply. The MACD remains bullish with the MACD line standing near 0.00403, above the signal line around 0.00211, while the histogram is positive near 0.00192 with the widening gap showing momentum strengthened during the latest advance. The derivatives market also saw increased participation, with Open Interest rising 17% to $23.8 million and derivatives volume jumping 88% to $77.6 million, indicating fresh investor interest in leveraged positions.
Google Cloud operates critical Midnight infrastructure and a federated node, with its Mandiant unit providing threat monitoring and incident-response support for the network. The collaboration was part of the infrastructure behind Midnight's March mainnet launch, with the foundation reporting that Google Cloud, Vodafone-linked Pairpoint and other companies were participating in the network's early federated operator set. Midnight later expanded that group to include Worldpay, Bullish, MoneyGram, eToro and AlphaTON Capital, with the operators supporting network stability before block production gradually becomes more decentralized. Monument Bank is another institutional partner, announcing plans in March to mirror interest-bearing retail deposits on Midnight while maintaining existing banking protections, with the first phase targeting £250 million in tokenized deposits from the bank's roughly £7 billion in deposits.
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has made a bold prediction that Midnight will eventually surpass Zcash, one of privacy's most established networks. According to reports from AMBCrypto, Hoskinson's prediction came as a response to a bullish post by Weiss Crypto, which labeled NIGHT as a worthy investment over the next 24 months. Hoskinson cited several features he believes will set Midnight apart, including selective privacy where users can control revealing only specific information, and plans for support of apps and private software agents across major blockchains. The prediction has sparked heated debate, with some agreeing and others expressing skepticism, including DeFi Warhol who argued that at the current pace, two weeks of Zcash's activity equals Midnight's entire public transaction count. However, NIGHT's current market value remains far below Zcash's, meaning Hoskinson's comparison refers to future potential rather than present market ranking.
The latest breakout gives NIGHT a bullish bias with resistance at $0.044-0.045 and $0.038 remaining an important pullback reference price level. According to technical analysis, the nearest marked daily resistance sits at $0.04171, approximately 9.4% above $0.03812, with the level aligning with the June rebound high and an area where NIGHT traded before its April decline. A sustained advance above both $0.040 and $0.04171 would bring the June resistance into focus, representing roughly 40.3% upside from current levels. However, the Spot market faces pressure from profit realization, with $11.5 million worth of NIGHT flowing into exchanges compared to $10 million in outflows over the past 24 hours. The analysis reveals that NIGHT sits structurally strong with its MACD holding within an upward trajectory and the True Strength Index (TSI) maintaining upward momentum, though volatility is likely to remain elevated while the token trades this far above its 20-day average.
