According to reports from Glassnode, the Altcoin Cycle Signal has returned to 'Altcoin Season' territory, reaching 86 - a level that indicates alternative cryptocurrencies are outperforming Bitcoin. The signal moves above 50 when altcoins outperform Bitcoin, and currently sits deep inside Altcoin Season territory. As reported by Glassnode, altcoins are running out of sellers after nearly two years of pressure, while Bitcoin continues its downward trend. The latest data indicates that as Bitcoin's price significantly declines, the Altcoin Cycle Signal rises to 86, suggesting a direct correlation between Bitcoin's weakness and altcoin outperformance. According to AMBCrypto, this represents the highest number the signal has been since late 2022, marking a significant shift from the previous period when the signal had mostly stayed under the critical 50 threshold.
Despite the positive Altcoin Season signal, Glassnode warns that Bitcoin's sharp decline is doing most of the work in driving the current altcoin movement. According to Glassnode, the firm notes that for now, the Bitcoin side is still doing most of the work in the current market cycle. Data from BeInCrypto Markets shows that Bitcoin has declined 18% over the past month, with the pullback attributed to a more hawkish Federal Reserve stance and growing concerns about potential interest rate increases. The momentum picked up when the signal moved closer to 100, showing that most of the willing sellers of altcoins have sold. As reported by AMBCrypto, even though there appears to be an increasing appetite for taking greater risks, a long-term transfer will likely need to wait until Bitcoin stabilizes before seeing full-capital movement into all the altcoin space.
The cryptocurrency market faces pressure from Bank of America analysts who expect the Fed to deliver three rate hikes this year. Higher interest rates are typically viewed as bearish for risk assets because they increase borrowing costs, tighten financial conditions, and reduce investor appetite for speculative investments such as cryptocurrencies. However, Grayscale Head of Research Zach Pandl presented a different outlook in a recent research note, stating the firm's base-case scenario is for the Fed to refrain from further rate hikes. Under this scenario, easing concerns about monetary tightening could support Bitcoin and other digital assets.
According to AMBCrypto, altcoins have struggled to establish a clear trend as liquidity remains concentrated in a class of assets, with some tokens facing profit-taking and exchange inflows while others show signs of supply tightening. Gate's net flow data indicates selective capital rotation in the altcoin sector rather than a complete exit from the space. Between late 2025 and mid-June 2026, numerous asset classes demonstrated consistent withdrawal-dominant behavior. As these outflows continued, the accumulation signals began to grow stronger, with Ethereum [ETH], Chainlink [LINK], Uniswap [UNI], and 1Inch [1INCH] exhibiting higher deposit activity vs. withdrawals. This capital rotation toward selected altcoins rather than supporting the market uniformly suggests that assets already showing sustained outflows could be better positioned to attract speculative demand if broader conditions improve.
