Gemini Space Station and Apex Fintech Solutions have signed a letter of intent that would make Gemini Titan the exclusive regulated venue for crypto prediction contracts distributed to brokerage customers through Apex's futures commission merchant. According to the latest announcement from Gemini, under the agreement, Gemini Titan will serve as the exclusive CFTC-regulated trading venue for Apex's Futures Commission Merchants (FCMs) to distribute crypto event contracts, with Gemini responsible for trade execution and clearing. This arrangement allows brokerages connected to Apex to offer these products to their clients without needing to directly connect to a prediction market exchange. The agreement remains subject to final terms, which the companies expect to work out over the coming weeks, with the letter of intent being non-binding.
The planned arrangement would give Gemini Titan access to brokerage customers using Apex infrastructure as the crypto exchange builds out its prediction-market business. As reported by CoinDesk, Gemini entered the regulated U.S. prediction-market sector after Titan received a Designated Contract Market license from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission in December 2025. Titan has since recorded more than 225 million event contracts traded, according to Gemini's second-quarter 2026 earnings presentation, with more than 27,000 cumulative traders on the platform. However, prediction markets remain a relatively small revenue source for Gemini, with the company reporting approximately $500,000 in prediction-market revenue during the second quarter, compared with company-wide revenue of $45.5 million. Gemini has demonstrated strong recent momentum, with Q2 2026 seeing a 93% quarter-over-quarter increase in prediction-market volume on its platform, as reported by CoinDesk.
The partnership reflects the broader movement of prediction markets toward mainstream retail investing, with regulated prediction markets for retail brokerage clients representing a significant shift from their niche origins. As reported by Investment.com, prediction markets are on track for $1 trillion in volume by 2030, drawing in traditional financial institutions and infrastructure providers who once ignored the category entirely. The Gemini-Apex deal is structured precisely to solve the access problem that has kept most retail brokerages on the sidelines, with Gemini CEO Tyler Winklevoss stating that the company deliberately chose to build its predictions platform in-house, believing predictions are the future of markets. The arrangement allows brokerages to offer crypto event contracts to their clients without requiring direct connection to prediction market exchanges, streamlining the process for institutional participants. Apex Global Head of Digital Markets Travis McGhee noted that brokerage clients get regulated access to crypto event contracts without having to build the plumbing themselves.
The companies may also work together on contracts covering sports, economic events and financial markets, with the agreement giving Apex flexibility to collaborate with Gemini on additional contract categories including sports, economics, and broader financial market events, on a non-exclusive basis. According to CoinDesk, this expansion could provide Gemini with additional distribution channels beyond its existing prediction-market business. The partnership allows brokerages to offer crypto event contracts to their clients without requiring direct connection to prediction market exchanges, streamlining the process for institutional participants. As reported by Gemini, this collaboration builds on the company's recent product and regulatory milestones, with the flexibility to collaborate on additional contract categories including sports, economics, and financial markets, as InvestmentNews notes that the open-ended scope signals both companies' conviction that prediction markets will expand well beyond crypto.
Gemini added another regulatory component to its prediction-market infrastructure in April when its Olympus subsidiary received approval to operate as a Derivatives Clearing Organization. As reported by CoinDesk, the CFTC clearing approval gave Gemini Olympus authority to clear derivatives and provided the company with an affiliated clearing operation alongside Titan's DCM license. Gemini's derivatives clearinghouse went live on August 4, bringing settlement of prediction contracts under the company's own infrastructure. The April authorization covers infrastructure that can support futures, options, perpetual contracts and prediction markets. Gemini deliberately chose to build its predictions platform in-house, leveraging more than a decade of experience building and operating a regulated platform for crypto, as stated by CEO Tyler Winklevoss. The prediction market sector as a whole saw multi-billion dollar volumes in 2025, according to CoinDesk.
The partnership extends beyond prediction markets to include Gemini's recent stock trading launch with Apex Clearing Corporation. In July, Gemini launched stock trading with 0% commissions for certain U.S. customers with Apex Clearing Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Apex, acting as custodian and clearing broker. Apex Clearing Corporation is registered with the CFTC as a Futures Commission Merchant and is an SEC registered broker dealer and member of FINRA and SIPC. Gemini CEO Tyler Winklevoss emphasized that predictions are the future of markets, stating that this strategy allows the company to expand its offering and open access to valued partners like Apex as demand for event contracts grows. The companies stated they expect to finalize details of the collaboration in the coming weeks.
