Flare has launched Flare Smart Accounts (FSA) v1.3, enabling XRP holders to mint FXRP and deposit it into yield-generating vaults with a single XRPL signature. According to reports from Flare, the update removes the complexity of creating new wallets, bridging assets between chains, and managing gas tokens before earning yield. Users can now choose a vault, sign once using their existing XRPL wallet, and Flare completes the rest automatically without requiring separate EVM wallets, gas tokens, or manual bridging. Filip Koprivec, Chief Product Officer at Flare, stated that "Millions of XRP holders have wanted access to DeFi, but the experience has been too complex. With Smart Accounts v1.3, users can go from XRP to yield with a single signature while remaining fully non-custodial." The technical mechanics are fascinating, as the previous iteration required two separate XRP Ledger signatures to complete a deposit, while this new update compresses that down into a single, unified transaction. Your XRP remains highly secure on the native XRP Ledger through a one-to-one collateral model while Flare automatically mints the equivalent FXRP and deposits it directly into your chosen yield strategy.
The update builds on significant growth in XRPFi adoption since February 2026. As reported by Flare, the amount of FXRP deployed in DeFi has grown by nearly 75%, increasing from 82 million to 144 million FXRP. More than 40 million XRP is currently earning yield through Flare Smart Accounts, while nearly 24,000 Smart Accounts have already been created. The momentum is clearly building as activity surrounding XRP-based decentralized finance continues to explode. The release reduces what previously required two separate XRPL signatures to a single transaction while maintaining full non-custodial security. Christopher Troia, co-founder of Joey Wallet, noted that "There's a lot of overlap between the XRPL and Flare communities, so integrating Flare Smart Accounts just made sense. It brings a breath of fresh air for XRP holders, letting them start putting their XRP to work in a seamless way."
The release expands yield strategy options through the addition of the Clearstar Flare XRP Yield Vault. According to Flare, users can now choose between two actively managed FXRP vaults with different approaches to generating yield. The Monarq XRP Yield Vault, operated by Monarq majority-owned by FalconX, combines options, basis trading, funding-rate capture, and on-chain DeFi strategies, while the Clearstar vault takes a fully on-chain approach, deploying FXRP across lending and liquidity protocols on Flare including Avant and Euler. The Clearstar vault has previously managed deposits exceeding 33 million FXRP with every position remaining publicly verifiable on-chain. These two vaults take completely different approaches to generating returns - the Monarq vault is operated by a firm majority-owned by FalconX and combines options trading, basis trading, funding rate capture, and on-chain strategies, while the new Clearstar vault takes a strictly on-chain approach, deploying your FXRP across various lending and liquidity protocols operating on Flare.
Flare is expanding access by adding support for Ledger, Xaman, Joey Wallet, and WalletConnect, including Bifrost, joining existing D'CENT support. As reported by Flare, Joey Wallet now embeds Flare Smart Accounts directly as an in-wallet dApp, allowing users to mint FXRP and deposit into yield vaults without leaving the wallet interface. Christopher Troia from Joey Wallet emphasized that "There is a lot of overlap between the XRPL and Flare communities, so integrating Flare Smart Accounts just made sense." The Joey Wallet integration is particularly interesting as Joey Wallet is a self-custodial XRP Ledger wallet known for its incredibly fast onboarding process with under-3-second onboarding and social login support via Web3Auth. The integration joins existing D'CENT support, allowing more XRP holders to access Flare's yield infrastructure through wallets they already use. This entire rollout reflects a much larger trend across the blockchain industry, as infrastructure providers are finally realizing that complex user experiences kill adoption.
The Flare Data Connector (FDC) verifies XRPL transactions on Flare, allowing smart contracts linked to user XRPL addresses to carry out requested actions automatically. According to Flare, the user's XRP remains secured on XRPL through FXRP's 1:1 collateral model while Flare mints FXRP and deposits it into selected yield strategies. Users can get started at fsa.flare.network/vaults or through supported wallets including Joey Wallet, Xaman, and D'CENT. The process relies on the Flare Data Connector (FDC), which verifies the XRP Ledger transaction on Flare, after which a smart contract linked directly to the user's address automatically handles the rest of the heavy lifting. This automation relies heavily on the Flare Data Connector, which actively verifies the XRP Ledger transaction over on the Flare network, and once verified, a specialized smart contract linked directly to the user's address automatically handles the rest of the heavy lifting.
