ETHGas (GWEI) has declined by more than 10% in the past 24 hours, hitting an all-time low of 0.042 GWEI according to reports from AMBCrypto. The token, which tracks gas fees on the Ethereum network, represents the Ethereum ecosystem's usage metrics. Daily trading volume decreased by 49% to around $20 million, reflecting the loss of trader interest in GWEI as fees fell to minimal levels. Ethereum's average transaction fee has also dropped to 0.1873 USD, down from 0.3723 USD one year ago, indicating reduced network congestion across the Ethereum ecosystem.
The decline in ETHGas prices occurred despite ongoing Ethereum ecosystem upgrades, as reported by AMBCrypto. High fees were previously concentrated on NFT sales, indicating that demand on the Ethereum network leaned toward the NFT sector. At the current all-time low levels, both institutions and retailers are selling the token on centralized exchanges and decentralized exchanges due to low demand. Retailers are primarily using PancakeSwap DEX, OKX, and Bitget to offload their holdings. The Ethereum network currently processes 1.539 million transactions per day at the current average fee of 0.1873 USD, significantly lower than previous levels.
Significant selling pressure emerged from major exchanges, with KuCoin moving 30 million GWEI worth $800,000 in three transfers and Gate moving 20 million GWEI worth $591,000 in two transactions, according to AMBCrypto reports. Well over 50 million GWEI valued at around $1.40 million were sold in 24 hours, excluding retailer distribution. Exchange balances increased by approximately 3.7 million tokens in 24 hours, confirming the intention to sell GWEI across the crypto market.
GWEI has dropped around 92% from its peak value of $0.2519 in late June, as reported by AMBCrypto. The net volume showed a fall from 5.37 million to negative 9.15 million, indicating a massive distribution event that is starting to stabilize. Bears had forced a breakdown below a broadening wedge pattern, but bulls are showing signs of potential price recovery. The MACD is having a crossover with bars blinking green for the first time since July 7th, which could indicate ETHGas is on track for a recovery.
GWEI remains in a bearish market structure unless Ethereum's high network usage and user demand return, according to AMBCrypto analysis. The token's intrinsic value is directly linked to Ethereum gas fees, which have fallen to minimal levels. While the current low network congestion and user demand have evaporated the token's core utility and speculative demand, the technical indicators suggest potential for recovery as market conditions improve. The Ethereum network's 2.29K% average growth rate and 1.539 million daily transactions provide a foundation for potential fee recovery that could benefit GWEI's price performance.
