OKX launched QNT perpetual futures with up to 50x leverage as Quant trades near $249 after a 178% weekly surge and 16% daily pullback. The futures contract opened at 08:00 UTC on October 1 across OKX's web, app and API interfaces, using the QUANT/USDT index as underlying price reference. Under OKX's contract specifications, traders can use leverage ranging from 0.01x to 50x, with funding fees settling every four hours and automatic shortening to one hour if funding reaches contract limits. The listing arrives during an unusually volatile period for QNT, with CoinGecko showing a 24-hour range between roughly $242 and $305 and trading volume around $451 million. Volume has fallen around 41% from the previous day even as activity remains far above levels recorded before the September rally.
Quant (QNT) whales that remained idle for more than 7 years have begun moving tokens to exchanges as the token's rally accelerated. According to AMBCrypto reports, a dormant founder's wallet that had been inactive for approximately seven years recently moved 25,776 QNT worth roughly $6.97 million to new wallets. This represents the first time this wallet has been active since it became dormant, raising significant questions about the holder's motivation after the price explosion on QNT. Notably, the tokens were transferred to new wallets rather than centralized exchanges, indicating there may be no immediate intention by the holder to sell those tokens. However, the wallet's balance of 600,000 QNT, worth $160.39 million, remains a larger concern if more of that balance moves toward exchanges, as traders could anticipate additional supply and become more cautious.
QNT has reclaimed the $300 level after a sharp pullback from its September high of $373, with technical indicators showing strong bullish momentum. According to TradingView analysis, the token traded near $302 with a 13.29% daily gain, recovering from the recent retreat toward $200. The daily RSI reached 81.90, staying above the conventional overbought threshold of 70, while the MACD line stood at 50.10 with a positive histogram reading of 24.92. The weekly Chaikin Money Flow reading was also positive at 0.35, indicating strong volume-based support for the recovery. The weekly chart places resistance at $312.50 and $343.75, with the recent peak near $373 representing the next major target if current momentum continues. At the current price near $249, QNT has surrendered part of the gains made around the end of September, though it remains roughly 178% higher over seven days compared with a gain of less than 1% for the overall crypto market during the same period.
QNT faces critical resistance at $329 on the daily chart, with major liquidation clusters building around $278 and $327. According to CoinGlass liquidation heatmap data, the brightest remaining bands above price are concentrated near $324–$327, while stronger bands appear around $278 and $271–$273. The trading range shows significant volatility with a gap of $66.64 between the daily low of $262.36 and high of $329, equivalent to about 25% of the session's opening price. The weekly chart adds intermediate levels at $281.25 and $250, with a retreat below $281.25 returning attention to the $278 liquidation concentration. The RSI at 81.90 indicates stretched daily momentum, though the indicator's moving average of 70.03 suggests the recent advance remains strong despite cooling from earlier overbought conditions.
The surge in whale activity coincided with unprecedented network growth following The Clearing House's September 24 announcement of choosing Quant to power its On-Chain Money Initiative. New addresses hit 7,516 on September 27, approximately 55 times the weekday average from September 1 to 15, while active addresses rose from 2,064 on September 24 to 14,458 on September 27. Derivatives traders joined the momentum, with dollar-denominated open interest rising nearly 9x over those 4 days, though measured in QNT terms it grew about 2.2x. The price action reflected this institutional interest, with QNT jumping to $373 on Binance on Sunday, its highest price since September 2021, sitting about 13% below the $427.42 all-time high. As per Santiment, the Clearing House-backed network is not due to open until the first half of 2027. Seven UK banks completed tokenized sterling deposit transactions using infrastructure built by Quant in September, with Barclays, HSBC UK, Lloyds Banking Group, Monzo, Nationwide, NatWest and Santander participating in the Great British Tokenised Deposit project.
QNT's institutional narrative now faces a test of whether adoption can translate into sustained token demand, as increased institutional use does not automatically reduce circulating supply or create sustained upward pressure on QNT's price. While Overledger provides utility with QNT licenses, the overall volume of required licenses is much smaller than the total number of available QNT. Santiment noted that token metrics cannot show whether banks will actually use Quant's network, and urged that "cooling prices and consolidation would create a healthier setup than another near-vertical run." The technical structure remains bullish with Daily ADX at 47.74 and +DI at 68.80, while $249 to $250 serves as immediate support and $350 to $370 represents the next resistance zone. Analyst Ted Pillows suggests QNT could double from current levels if momentum continues, projecting a move above $373, while Crypto nerd forecasts a potential move above $400.
