
Conflux Network has scheduled its v3.1.0 hard fork for August 25, requiring all node operators to install the update before the network reaches epoch 155140000. According to the August 3 announcement, node operators must complete the update process before this deadline to ensure compatibility with the upgraded blockchain. Operators who update before the deadline can restart their systems normally, while those who wait until after the target epoch will face a more complex process requiring removal of existing blockchain data and downloading network records again.
The v3.1.0 update will activate seven Conflux Improvement Proposals (CIPs) designed to enhance network functionality and Ethereum compatibility. Three proposals will improve Conflux eSpace integration with Ethereum-based applications, including CIP-166 adding support for counting empty digits in computer values and CIP-167 enabling direct support for passkey digital signatures used in authentication systems. CIP-174 will limit information size for calculation-heavy network features and increase transaction fees, while CIP-173 addresses dispute review problems for proof-of-stake validators and is expected to activate on August 26 at block 3749400. The latest reports confirm the upgrade will introduce EVM compatibility updates, bug fixes, RPC changes, and security enhancements across the network.
Four proposals focus on correcting existing network issues affecting transaction processing and staking operations. CIP-172 will require all transactions to follow a single approved format to prevent multiple identifying codes for the same transfer, with nodes already rejecting incorrectly formatted transactions before the full hard fork takes effect. CIP-175 corrects permission issues between Core Space and eSpace environments, while CIP-176 processes all relevant account entries when multiple appearances occur in transaction access lists. The update also improves proof-of-stake system handling of pending transactions and new block proposals.
Version 3.1.0 contains a private security patch that Conflux will not disclose until the hard fork is completed to prevent attackers from targeting unpatched nodes. The update also repairs several crashes caused by damaged messages, incorrect network requests, and unusual on-chain information. Additionally, the software adds a real-time transaction monitoring meter for operators to track node processing activity. Conflux has removed an older connection method while maintaining commonly used web and live connection options.
Major Conflux upgrades have historically influenced CFX trading activity, with Conflux 3.0 coverage recording a roughly 70% rally from $0.1450 to $0.2416 in July 2025. The v3.1.0 announcement focuses on operational requirements rather than providing CFX price forecasts. Conflux previously used similar coordinated security processes, including the March 2025 repair of a contract placement flaw that was privately reported by the ecosystem team GraFun, who received 60,000 CFX for their findings.
