**Aave (AAVE) emerged as the top performer with an impressive 19% gain, significantly outperforming its previous 8.9% performance. The surge was driven by reports of potential strategic investment by Kraken's parent company and founder Stani Kulechov's assurances that protocol revenues flow to AAVE holders under the new framework. As reported by CoinDesk, Kulechov pushed back against suggestions that Aave assets could be sold at steep discounts, reiterating that all protocol revenue - currently running at an annualized $134 million - flows to the Aave DAO and ultimately benefits AAVE token holders under the protocol's recently adopted "Aave Will Win" framework. Additionally, Kulechov teased "Aavenomics 3.0," an upcoming overhaul for the token's design that will introduce an automated buyback mechanism.
Solana (SOL) rose nearly 10% as tokenized stock trading on its network surged to $2.5 billion in weekly volume, representing a 10-times increase from a month ago according to RWA.xyz. This surge gave the network more than 80% share in tokenized equity trading across all blockchains. The tokenized stock trading activity boosted several Solana-based protocols including Jito, Raydium, Meteora and Kamino Finance. As reported by CoinDesk, this accelerated trading activity around tokenized stocks continued to lift the Solana ecosystem, demonstrating the growing adoption of decentralized finance infrastructure on the layer-1 blockchain.
Despite the overall positive sentiment, Near Protocol (NEAR) declined 2.5% and Ethereum (ETH)* dropped 1.1%, making them the laggards in the CoinDesk 20 Index. According to CoinDesk Indices, these two assets underperformed the broader market despite the positive momentum across most other constituents, with NEAR showing the most significant decline among the laggards. Meanwhile, Bitcoin stabilized around $60,000 after a sharp sell-off, with tokens tied to decentralized finance and the Solana ecosystem leading market gains while traditional cryptocurrencies showed mixed performance.
