The system employs a sophisticated dual-ledger approach to address the fundamental challenge of balancing transparency with privacy in regulated supply chains. According to technical documentation from Blockforce, the architecture runs on Hyperledger Fabric for the permissioned side, with commercial records remaining on a restricted network accessible only to approved companies, suppliers and participating parties. The cryptographic proof of these records is then anchored to Cardano, allowing any auditor, regulator, or customer to confirm record integrity without accessing the underlying commercial data. Azzas 2154, described by the partners as Latin America's largest fashion group, is using the platform across its leather supply chain, combining fiscal documents, supplier information and official public databases to create an auditable product history. The fashion group has set a target of tracing 100% of the leather used across its brands by 2030, emphasizing the practical approach of building solutions that work with existing supplier data rather than requiring new systems adoption. Blockforce specifically targets AI and blockchain traceability for fashion, textile, and leather supply chains, as well as ESG rules such as the EU deforestation regulation and digital product passports.
The announcement positions the system as providing independent verification capabilities rather than certifying specific regulatory compliance. According to the Cardano Foundation, the model focuses on giving auditors and regulators verification tools without providing compliance stamps. The European Union's Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation is establishing Digital Product Passports for priority product categories, including textiles and apparel, with the Cardano-Blockforce system potentially supporting record verification, though neither company said using the platform automatically satisfies any particular European regulation.
