Bybit EU has been selected as a recommended alternative for MEXC users in the Netherlands as MEXC prepares to exit the Dutch market under MiCAR rules. According to reports from Bybit, this partnership will facilitate a seamless transition for Dutch crypto users seeking regulated, compliant platforms. Nazar Tymoshchuk, Regional Country Manager at Bybit, stated that the company is pleased to welcome Dutch users who are looking for a regulated, compliant platform to continue their crypto journey, emphasizing their commitment to providing a secure, seamless experience for everyone transitioning to Bybit EU.
The partnership follows MEXC's decision to cease operations in the Netherlands due to the implementation of the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR), which requires all crypto-asset service providers operating in the EU to hold appropriate authorization. As reported by Bybit, Robert MacDonald, Chief Compliance Officer at MEXC, noted that partnering with Bybit represents an important step in ensuring a secure, compliant, and seamless transition for users. The MiCAR framework exists to protect European users, with Bybit EU operating under a MiCAR authorization granted by Austria's Financial Market Authority (FMA) since May 2025.
Recent market data shows significant trading activity across major cryptocurrencies, with MEXC reporting substantial volume increases. According to MEXC, ETH Spot trading volume increased by 36.3% from the previous day, while SOL volume rose by 109.7%. Together, ETH and SOL accounted for 46.4% of combined trading volume across the four assets, marking a new August high and making them the primary drivers of increased trading activity. This surge in activity demonstrates the growing demand for compliant platforms like Bybit EU as users seek regulated alternatives.
MEXC users in the Netherlands will receive direct communication from MEXC with guidance on next steps and timelines. Those who choose to move to Bybit EU will need to create and verify a new account independently – no accounts or assets will be automatically migrated. Users are encouraged to complete their transition by October 31, 2026, with final offboarding from MEXC set for November 16, 2026. The transition requires Dutch users to establish new accounts and verify their identities independently, with no automatic migration of existing balances or account information.
Bybit EU operates under a MiCAR authorization granted by the Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA) since May 2025 and serves customers across the entire European Economic Area (EEA), with the exception of Malta. The platform offers 115+ tokens across 135 trading pairs in both USDC and EUR, supports EUR top-ups and withdrawals via SEPA and iDEAL, and is available in Dutch. The platform segregates user funds from company assets as required by regulation and offers a comprehensive suite of crypto-asset services including custody, exchange, and transfer services.
To support users through the transition, Bybit EU is offering a welcome package for eligible new registrants, including bonus rewards, preferential trading fees, and cashback on the Bybit Card. According to Bybit, a dedicated landing page is available for Dutch users with step-by-step guidance, FAQs, and links to customer support. Users can join the Dutch-language Bybit community for transfer support through Telegram (t.me/Bybit_NL) and Twitter (x.com/BybitNL) for direct assistance during the transition process. Full details and terms of the welcome package will be available on the dedicated landing page.
