
According to Binance's 45th Proof of Reserves report, user Bitcoin holdings increased by 16,349 BTC in August 2026, bringing total balances to approximately 657,000 BTC. This marks the third consecutive month of Bitcoin balance growth, following increases of 25,838 BTC in May and 7,715 BTC in June. The latest addition represents more than twice the amount added during the previous reporting period, demonstrating sustained user interest in Bitcoin holdings on the exchange.
In contrast to Bitcoin growth, Ethereum balances fell by 2.57% to approximately 3.98 million ETH, representing a decrease of 105,154 ETH from the July snapshot. USDT holdings also declined by 2.57% to approximately 32.9 billion tokens, marking a decline of roughly 870 million USDT from the previous month. This marks the second consecutive month of Ethereum balance reduction, following a sharp increase in June that brought balances to around 4.14 million ETH before the July decline to 4.08 million ETH.
Binance reported 100.25% reserve ratios for both Bitcoin and Ethereum, indicating the exchange held approximately 1.0025 units in reserve wallets for every unit attributed to users at the snapshot time. USDT showed a higher ratio of 103.62%, placing Binance's corresponding USDT assets above the 32.9 billion tokens assigned to customers. The exchange's Proof of Reserves system uses Merkle trees and zero-knowledge proofs, allowing customers to verify their account balances without viewing other users' information.
The reserve snapshot shows no distinct BTC, ETH or USDT market movement could be reliably attributed to the report publication, as it measures customer and exchange balances rather than trading performance. Binance has not announced a fixed date for its 46th report, with the next publication expected around September 1, 2026. The exchange notes that Proof of Reserves helps determine whether disclosed on-chain assets cover user liabilities but does not provide a continuous record or independently assess corporate liabilities beyond the snapshot point.
