Binance has officially opened its Capital Connect investment marketplace to eligible individual users on May 7, 2026, giving wealthy clients access to professionally managed strategies previously reserved for institutional investors. The cryptocurrency exchange is expanding access as it works to attract high-net-worth clients seeking professionally managed portfolios across crypto and traditional financial markets. Individual investors can qualify by holding at least $1 million in assets, while Binance's updated eligibility rules provide several routes into the platform, including KYC-verified individuals reaching VIP 3 or above, holding at least $1 million on Binance, or submitting proof of an equivalent balance held externally for review. The move positions Capital Connect as a bridge between traditional wealth management and digital asset investing, with Binance Wealth serving as the vehicle for qualified individuals.
As reported by Binance, Capital Connect had 212 portfolios from 77 professional trading teams as of September, compared with 106 portfolios and 35 teams in May. This represents a doubling of listed portfolios within roughly four months while the number of participating teams has more than doubled. The platform currently supports categories including market-neutral, statistical arbitrage, directional, long-short and TradFi multi-strategy portfolios, with the investment choices no longer confined to digital assets as more trading teams have incorporated traditional financial instruments. Eligible users will gain access to the same marketplace infrastructure that institutional investors have used, including structured products and yield-generating strategies, though specific offerings for individual users were not detailed in the initial announcement.
According to Binance, qualified investors can compare trading teams using standardized performance information and select strategies through the marketplace. The platform runs on Binance's Portfolio Account infrastructure, which handles management and performance fees, subscriptions, redemptions, net asset value reporting and risk metrics. Trading teams remain responsible for executing their investment strategies, while assets held through a Portfolio Account cannot be transferred or withdrawn by trading teams to external accounts. Publicly listed trading teams must complete Binance's KYB verification, maintain more than 30 days of active Portfolio Account trading history and hold a valid asset management or portfolio management license. The exchange did not disclose additional criteria such as residency restrictions, accreditation standards, or verification procedures in the initial announcement.
As reported by crypto.news, the expansion fits with Binance's recent push to place traditional financial products alongside its cryptocurrency business. The exchange launched five stock perpetuals tied to U.S. stocks and leveraged exchange-traded funds in August, offering up to 20x leverage and round-the-clock trading. In May, Binance added contracts tied to companies including Oracle, Disney, Uber, Cisco and Home Depot, with the products settled in USDT through its futures platform. The exchange launched bStocks in June, allowing users to convert supported U.S. equity holdings into tokenized assets, with the value reaching approximately $610.6 million by August. By lowering the barrier from institutional-only to individuals with $1 million in assets, the exchange is courting a segment that has largely relied on family offices or private banks for such access.
According to CNBC, Catherine Chen, head of Binance VIP and institutional, stated that individual investors "want access to Capital Connect" and this represents Binance answering their demand. However, Binance emphasizes that it does not guarantee portfolio performance, returns or capital preservation, and investments made through Capital Connect remain at the investor's risk. Access remains limited to permitted jurisdictions, with the platform giving high-net-worth individuals another route into Binance's expanding investment business through portfolios run by professional trading teams instead of individual stock, derivatives or tokenized equity trades.
