Aave has officially launched its Equities Hub on Base, enabling eligible non-US users to borrow USDC using Coinbase-issued tokenized US equities as collateral. According to The Block, the initial batch supports seven US stocks including Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Tesla, with Chainlink providing on-chain price data for the related assets. The market's initial aggregate stock collateral cap is approximately $29 million, while the USDC supply cap is $32 million and the borrowing cap is $21 million. Currently, these tokenized stocks can only be used as collateral, though Aave noted the market may expand to include additional Coinbase tokenized stocks and GHO as a borrowable asset subject to future governance and risk reviews. The launch represents Aave's broader push into tokenized stocks, securities and other real-world assets, with the protocol having processed $3.6 trillion in cumulative deposits and more than $1 trillion in all-time loans.
Within the proposed market, the seven stocks serve only as collateral with separate borrowing limits for each stock. Aave's published factors range from 65% for Meta and Tesla to 79% for Microsoft, with Apple at 78%, Alphabet at 76%, Amazon at 73%, and Nvidia at 70%. The platform has set a $32 million limit on USDC supplied to the main lending market and a $21 million limit on USDC borrowed. The Equities Hub pools different stock collateral into a shared USDC market while implementing separate risk parameters to isolate potential risks from individual stocks, allowing the market to operate 24/7. According to Aave risk provider LlamaRisk, risk parameters are set separately for each asset so any issue affecting one equity is isolated from the others, with the protocol using its Hub and Spoke architecture to combine the equity collateral into a single market with one USDC reserve. However, as reported by AMBCrypto, the rapid growth in tokenized-equity trading on Base is now exposing a liquidity gap beneath headline volumes, with about $1 billion changing hands over 30 days yet most activity remaining concentrated in a few stocks and Aerodrome.
Aave's V4 design places equity positions in a dedicated Equities Hub with a shared USDC reserve. Chainlink supplies the feeds Aave plans to use when valuing each stock token, with initial feeds publishing from Sunday evening through Friday evening Eastern time. Loans can operate around the clock, but shares behind the tokens trade during U.S. market sessions. The risk provider plans to review market settings once Chainlink provides continuous feeds for the tokens, ensuring accurate pricing and risk assessment across all seven assets. Chainlink Chief Business Officer Johann Eid describes the integration as a step toward bringing the global equities market onchain, while Base Head of Growth Antonio García-Martínez confirms that eligible customers outside the U.S. can use the stocks to borrow USDC and USDC suppliers can earn interest. However, AMBCrypto notes that price changes caused by forced sales will impact Aave's ability to use collateral when liquidating, as many pools do not have enough capital reserves to cover losses, potentially triggering sharp price declines that reduce the value of remaining collateral.
Aave's expanding presence in real-world asset markets extends beyond equities to commodities, with tokenized commodities deposited across DeFi reaching $133.3 million, according to AMBCrypto. Aave holds $51.3 million across V2, V3, and V4, representing approximately 86% of reported tokenized commodity deposits alongside Uniswap. This growth reflects Aave's expanding role as tokenized real-world assets continue expanding across decentralized platforms. Meanwhile, AAVE has strengthened its DeFi presence with founder Stani Kulechov supplying $4.77 million in AAVE liquidity to the Uniswap decentralized exchange, introducing deeper market liquidity as AAVE continues recovering from its June local low around the $58 demand zone.
AAVE traded near $146.80, up 2.4% over 24 hours, according to CoinGecko, with the token breaking above the $147.64-resistance and extending toward $154.39. On the daily chart, AAVE rose to $147.41 after reaching $150.14 during the session, trading above its Supertrend line at $117.29. The Aroon Up reading of 85.71% exceeded Aroon Down at 35.71%, pointing to a stronger upward trend. AAVE now faces resistance at $155.43 with nearest support at $134.56. The RSI indicator strengthened toward 66.61 while maintaining below the 70 overbought threshold, with the $160 resistance representing the immediate technical test. The Binance Liquidation Heatmap shows liquidation clusters above price around the $157-$162 region, which could attract price upward if buyers maintain pressure above the newly reclaimed support. As reported by AMBCrypto, while tokenized equities are gaining a new DeFi use case, limited liquidity and market-hour constraints could restrict how quickly tokenized stocks scale as DeFi collateral, with the Equities Hub's protection weakening when traditional markets close.
