Defence training and anti-drone solutions provider Zen Technologies announced the launch of India's first AI-powered fully integrated anti-drone system on Tuesday (May 5), marking its entry into a modular counter-drone platform. According to reports from Bharat Shakti, the company unveiled the system at the North Tech Symposium 2026 in Prayagraj on the anniversary of Operation Sindoor. The platform has been fully designed and developed in India and is aimed at countering hostile drone threats through soft-kill and hard-kill capabilities. The timing reflects a global military concern, as first-person-view drones and coordinated swarm attacks increasingly challenge conventional air defence systems.
The anti-drone platform offers wideband coverage across 70 MHz to 12 GHz for detection and disruption across drone communication channels, with a surveillance range of more than 15 km and the ability to simultaneously track more than 100 drones for swarm engagement. As reported by Bharat Shakti, the system includes indigenous radar with a range of up to 20 km for detecting smaller low-RCS drones, along with layered neutralisation capabilities through RF jamming, GNSS jamming and spoofing, RCWS integration in 12.7 mm and 7.62 mm, air defence guns and kamikaze interceptors. At the core is a data fusion and command centre that integrates sensor inputs and uses algorithms for threat classification, tracking and response. The system can also be paired with air defence guns and loitering interceptors for hard-kill operations, providing a comprehensive shield against hostile UAVs.
The system can be deployed in three configurations to serve different operational needs. According to Bharat Shakti, the vehicle-mounted system is designed for deployment on tactical vehicles and mobile platforms for convoy protection and mobile area defence, while the man-portable system is designed for dismounted soldiers and can be used for patrols and counter-insurgency operations. The fixed configuration is designed for the protection of critical infrastructure, military bases and other high-value assets with round-the-clock surveillance and defence coverage.
Ashok Atluri, Chairman and Managing Director of Zen Technologies, emphasized that Operation Sindoor exposed how drone warfare is redefining the battlefield, stating that "nations that fail to adapt will remain vulnerable." As reported by Bharat Shakti, he highlighted the company's commitment to advancing indigenous defence technologies and reducing import dependence. Shares of Zen Technologies Limited ended at ₹1,532.85, up by ₹6.80, or 0.45%, on the BSE following the announcement. Atluri stressed that the real advantage will belong to those who can neutralise these threats effectively and noted that the system has been developed with full intellectual property ownership, aligning with the government's indigenisation push under Mission Atmanirbhar Bharat. He emphasized that this launch reinforces the company's commitment to advancing cutting-edge indigenous defence technologies and equipping armed forces with globally competitive, future-ready capabilities.
