Indian IT stocks are positioned for a positive start on Friday after their American Depository Receipts (ADRs) gained significantly in overnight trading, tracking a broader rally in technology stocks on Wall Street. Wipro ADRs rose 2.22% to $1.84, while Infosys ADR gained 2.02% to $12.14 after they had risen nearly 3% in pre-market trading. The gains come after a strong session for US technology stocks, with the tech-heavy Nasdaq providing positive cue for Indian IT counters that had remained subdued in recent sessions. As per Equirus Wealth's Managing Director Ankur Punj, the overnight upsurge in tech-heavy Nasdaq provided major impetus to local IT shares.
Under the expanded agreement, Wipro will arm over ten thousand AI-certified professionals with cutting-edge resources as part of the enterprise-wide adoption initiative. These specialists will include 1,500 Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) with advanced AI capabilities designed to enhance productivity, streamline operations, and accelerate decision-making processes. The partnership focuses on scaling internal deployment of Gemini Enterprise to support broader AI transformation across client organizations. Wipro is also building a dedicated team of more than 1,500 certified FDEs to combine Google Cloud's expertise with Wipro's consulting and engineering capabilities to seamlessly scale AI adoption from pilot to enterprise-wide deployment. The initiative is aimed at improving productivity, streamlining operations and enabling faster decision-making for clients.
Wipro unveiled its LIFT (Launch-Ignite-Flywheel-Transform) framework, which is designed to accelerate AI transformation and operationalize AI agents at scale. The framework is powered by Wipro Intelligence™, a unified suite of AI platforms, solutions, and transformative offerings. The LIFT framework integrates Gemini Enterprise with Wipro's AI-powered delivery platforms, WINGS and WEGA, to help enterprises seamlessly transition from basic task automation to embedding secure, autonomous AI agents directly into their core, multi-step business workflows. As per Wipro's Managing Partner and Global Head of Technology Services Kanwar Singh, AI is foundational to how Wipro is shaping its future, driving innovation, transforming operations, and delivering differentiated value for clients. The framework enables organizations to use AI in multi-step business processes rather than only in simple automation tasks.
Drawing on its AI transformation experience through its 'Operate Better with AI' strategy and 'Client Zero' approach, Wipro has deployed Gemini Enterprise as its central agentic orchestration platform. The company's integration of Antigravity Command Line Interface into software engineering systems has helped enable agentic workflows that support developers across planning, coding, testing and application modernisation. Gemini's advanced reasoning and long-context capabilities have enabled Wipro to build autonomous AI agents across compliance, HR and sales intelligence, transforming AI from basic task automation into an enterprise-wide decision intelligence layer. The transition has delivered highly quantifiable outcomes for development lifecycles, including productivity improvements for custom application development and significant reductions in post-production defects. The developments underscore the increasing focus among Indian IT companies on monetising generative AI and agentic AI capabilities as clients look to move beyond experimentation towards enterprise-wide adoption.
For Q1 FY27, Wipro reported revenue of ₹24,479 crore, up 10.6% year-on-year and 1% sequentially, as reported by Business Standard. Net profit rose 0.6% YoY but declined 4.7% QoQ to ₹3,356 crore. IT services revenue stood at $2.615 billion, rising 0.9% YoY in constant currency terms but declining 1.2% QoQ. Despite the positive partnership news, Wipro maintained a cautious outlook for the September quarter, guiding for IT services revenue to range from a 1.5% decline to a 0.5% increase in constant currency terms. The company expects IT services revenue to be between $2.574 billion and $2.627 billion in Q2 FY27, implying sequential constant-currency growth of -1.5% to +0.5%. As reported by The Economic Times, this guidance reflects the challenging market conditions facing Indian IT services companies as they work to convince investors that generative AI can move from experimentation to billable enterprise work.
