According to latest reports from Business Standard, the company's consolidated revenue from operations rose 10.1% to ₹1,051.3 crore from ₹954.7 crore a year earlier, demonstrating robust top-line growth despite challenging market conditions. The company's operating profit margin (OPM) expanded significantly to 19.34% from 11.57% in the previous year, indicating improved operational efficiency across all business segments.
The company's EBITDA jumped 84.2% to ₹203.5 crore from ₹110.5 crore in the corresponding quarter last year, with EBITDA margin expanding sharply to 19.4% from 11.6%. As reported by CNBC TV18, this significant improvement in profitability was driven by better operational efficiency and higher realisations in the paper division, along with an improved product mix in the cable division. The company's paper and paperboard segment revenue increased to ₹899.1 crore during the quarter from ₹880.7 crore a year earlier, with segment results rising to ₹103 crore from ₹85.3 crore. According to Business Standard, the company's PBDT (Profit Before Depreciation and Tax) surged 67% to ₹240.28 crore from ₹144.15 crore in the previous year, while PBT (Profit Before Tax) increased 110% to ₹181.25 crore from ₹86.34 crore.
The telecommunications cables business emerged as a key growth driver, with revenue more than doubling to ₹152.2 crore from ₹73.9 crore in the year-ago quarter. According to CNBC TV18, the segment result surged dramatically to ₹74 crore from ₹0.45 crore in the corresponding quarter last year, representing a remarkable turnaround in profitability. Shares of West Coast Paper Mills closed 3.32% higher at ₹616.90 on Wednesday following the strong quarterly results announcement. However, the company faced operational challenges at its subsidiary Andhra Paper Ltd.'s Kadiyam unit, which experienced temporary suspension of operations from April 27 due to what the company described as an illegal strike by contract workers. As reported by CNBC TV18, manufacturing operations partially resumed on July 15 following the return of a majority of workers, with the Kadiyam unit currently operating at about 93% of normal capacity.
