Welspun Specialty Solutions reported a net profit of ₹5.16 crore for the June quarter, marking a significant turnaround from the net loss of ₹0.75 crore recorded in the corresponding period last year. According to latest reports from Business Standard, the company's sales declined 3.80% to ₹193.67 crore in Q1 FY27 compared to ₹201.32 crore in Q1 FY26. The company attributed this improvement to a sharp decline in year-ago quarter's one-time finance cost of ₹5.78 crore arising from the redemption of non-cumulative redeemable preference shares. Despite the revenue decline, the company's operating performance strengthened considerably during the quarter.
The company's operating metrics showed substantial improvement with EBITDA more than doubling to ₹10.54 crore compared to ₹4.38 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. As reported by CNBC TV18, the EBITDA margin expanded significantly to 5.4% from 2.2% a year earlier, reflecting stronger profitability despite the revenue decline. The latest Business Standard data confirms this trend with PBDT (Profit Before Depreciation and Tax) surging 185% to ₹9.15 crore from ₹3.21 crore in the previous year, demonstrating enhanced operational efficiency during the quarter.
The Q1 results build on the company's robust annual performance in FY26, where Welspun Specialty Solutions reported total income of ₹904.19 crore, up from ₹749.09 crore in FY25. According to the company's FY26 annual report, the stainless-steel products manufacturer achieved a four-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 28% in total income. The company returned to profitability with a profit after tax of ₹22.67 crore in FY26, compared with a loss of ₹4.09 crore in FY25, highlighting sustained operational improvements.
The company's financial position showed marked improvement with net worth increasing to ₹455.64 crore at the end of FY26 from ₹434.37 crore a year earlier. As reported in the annual report, Welspun Specialty Solutions moved into a net cash position of ₹120.44 crore in FY26, compared with net cash of ₹76.25 crore in FY25. This represents a significant improvement from the net debt positions of ₹271.45 crore in FY24 and ₹233.22 crore in FY23, demonstrating enhanced financial stability.
