Vishal Mega Mart delivered impressive Q4 results with profit after tax (PAT) rising 45.8% year-on-year to ₹167.9 crore. According to the latest earnings report, the growth was driven by rising income from core operations and a marginal rise in margins during the March quarter. The retail chain's strong operational performance reflects improved business fundamentals and operational efficiency, with revenue from operations rising 22.2% to ₹3,114.1 crore compared to ₹2,547.9 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Total income increased to ₹3,138.6 crore during the quarter, though this represented a sequential decline from ₹4,673.1 crore in Q3 FY26.
For the full financial year FY26, Vishal Mega Mart achieved consolidated revenue from operations of ₹12,906.3 crore, marking a 20.4% increase from ₹10,716.3 crore in FY25. The company's annual net profit rose 33.1% to ₹839.2 crore from ₹630.5 crore in the previous financial year. Total comprehensive income attributable to owners stood at ₹837.7 crore for FY26, demonstrating the company's strong annual performance across multiple quarters. The audited results were reviewed by the audit committee and approved by the board on May 14, 2026, with statutory auditors Walker Chandiok & Co LLP issuing unmodified audit opinions on both standalone and consolidated financial statements.
Despite strong annual growth, Vishal Mega Mart experienced sequential moderation in Q4 FY26, with net profit declining 46.3% quarter-on-quarter from ₹312.9 crore in Q3 FY26. Revenue also fell 33.4% sequentially from ₹4,673.1 crore in the December quarter. Earnings per share for Q4 FY26 stood at ₹0.36 compared with ₹0.67 in the previous quarter and ₹0.25 in Q4 FY25. The sequential decline reflects typical seasonal patterns in retail operations, with Q4 typically being the strongest quarter followed by moderation in subsequent quarters.
The 45.8% year-on-year growth in PAT demonstrates the company's ability to generate higher profits from its core retail operations while achieving healthy operational growth. According to the latest earnings report, profit before tax increased to ₹225.3 crore in Q4 FY26 against ₹155.7 crore in the year-ago quarter, reflecting continued margin expansion despite elevated operating costs. Total expenses during the quarter rose 20.9% year-on-year to ₹2,913.3 crore from ₹2,410 crore, mainly due to higher procurement, employee benefit and store operating expenses. Employee benefit expense stood at ₹188.9 crore while finance costs were ₹46.4 crore during the quarter.
Despite the strong financial results, shares of Vishal Mega Mart dropped over 4% intraday following the earnings announcement. As reported by Upstox Securities, the market reaction suggests investor expectations may have been higher than the actual results delivered. The stock's decline despite positive earnings indicates that market participants were anticipating even stronger performance from the retail chain, particularly given the sequential moderation from Q3 FY26 levels.
