Vascon Engineers shares surged 5% to hit the upper circuit limit on BSE, reaching an intraday high of ₹35.19 per share following the announcement of a major contract win. According to Business Standard, the buying momentum came after the company secured a significant order from the Central Public Works Department, Guwahati. At 9:17 AM, the stock was trading 4.99% higher at ₹35.16 per share, significantly outperforming the BSE Sensex which was down 0.58% at 73,553.30. This strong market response reflects investor confidence in the company's expanding order book and institutional project capabilities. Over the last three trading sessions, shares have gained approximately 12%, indicating sustained investor interest in the company's growth prospects.
Pune-based construction company Vascon Engineers Ltd has secured a significant contract worth ₹347.43 crore from the Central Public Works Department, Guwahati Division. According to a stock exchange filing, the company received the Letter of Intent for demolition and redevelopment of RBI Quarters at Zoo-Narengi Road Colony in Guwahati, Assam. The work has been awarded on an EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) basis with completion scheduled within 36 months from the date of order receipt. As per the company's regulatory filing, the work doesn't fall under the ambit of Related Party Transactions and was issued by the Central Public Works Department, Office of the Executive Engineer, Guwahati Division, Government of India. The order is valued at ₹347.43 crore, inclusive of goods and services tax (GST), and has been awarded by a domestic entity.
This latest award significantly strengthens Vascon Engineers' order book, which has now exceeded ₹3,100 crore following the ₹347.43 crore contract. The company's unexecuted order book has grown to approximately ₹3,172 crore, representing over 3 times the company's FY25 EPC revenue and providing strong revenue visibility for the next three fiscal years (FY27-FY29). The order intake for FY27 begins with strong momentum, aligning with the management's target of ₹1,200 crore in annual bookings. This geographic diversification into Guwahati reduces dependence on the core Maharashtra and Pune markets while strengthening relationships with government bodies like CPWD and institutional clients like RBI.
According to Bonanza's Virat Jagad, Senior Technical Research Analyst, Vascon Engineers remains in a broader corrective phase after a sharp decline from its 2024 peak near ₹90. The stock is trading within a falling channel and continues to face resistance from the upper trendline, indicating that the primary trend remains weak. The stock recently bounced from the lower boundary of the channel near ₹30 but has struggled to sustain above short-term moving averages, reflecting limited buying momentum. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is hovering in the neutral 40-50 range, suggesting the absence of a clear directional trend. Immediate support is seen in the ₹32-30 zone, while a break below that level could push the stock towards ₹27. On the upside, ₹38 and ₹43 remain key resistance levels, coinciding with the 50-day and 200-day moving averages. A decisive move above ₹43 and the falling channel resistance would be needed to signal a trend reversal and pave the way for a move towards ₹50-55.
The contract win comes amid challenging financial performance, with Vascon Engineers reporting an 83.54% decline in consolidated net profit to ₹5.72 crore in Q4 FY26 compared with ₹34.77 crore in Q4 FY25. Net sales tumbled 34.61% YoY to ₹253.08 crore in Q4 FY26, as reported by Business Standard. However, the massive order book-to-bill ratio of approximately 3.1x suggests that execution, rather than order intake, will be the primary driver for stock re-rating in the medium term. For a small-cap player like Vascon Engineers, an order of nearly ₹350 crore—representing nearly 45% of its current market capitalization—is a major fundamental catalyst.
