According to the company's exchange filing, V-Mart Retail Ltd reported ₹1,126 crore in revenue from operations for Q3FY26, marking a 10% year-on-year increase from ₹1,027 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal. However, same-store sales growth remained challenging, with the V-Mart format recording 0% SSSG while the Unlimited format achieved 2% SSSG during the December quarter. The quarter reflected stable demand trends, though same-store sales growth remained muted due to festive calendar shifts affecting seasonal sales patterns.
As reported by the company, quarterly performance was significantly influenced by shifts in festive timing, with a larger share of Durga Puja falling in the September quarter this year compared to the December quarter last year. Management highlighted that the timing of Durga Puja played a key role in shaping quarterly numbers, as a larger portion of festive sales moved to Q2 this year compared with the previous financial year. To adjust for this seasonal distortion, the company assessed performance on a combined Q2 and Q3 basis, with the combined Q2 and Q3 performance demonstrating 5% SSSG and 15% revenue growth, indicating underlying demand strength when viewed across the broader festive period.
According to the filing, V-Mart opened 23 new stores and closed two during the December quarter, resulting in a net addition of 21 stores. For the year-to-date period, the retailer has added 63 stores while closing six, bringing its total store count to 554 as of December-end. The newly opened stores were strategically spread across key states to deepen regional presence, with Uttar Pradesh receiving five stores, Gujarat four, and Bihar three, while Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu each received two stores. The expansion reinforces the company's focus on tier-2 and tier-3 markets where value fashion demand remains strong.
As detailed in the company's update, the remaining new store openings included one store each in Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, and Punjab. The strategic distribution across multiple states demonstrates V-Mart's commitment to deepening its presence in existing markets while exploring new geographic territories. The company emphasized that all revenue figures reported are provisional and subject to review by statutory auditors, indicating the preliminary nature of the financial data shared.
According to market data, shares of V-Mart Retail Ltd ended 1.17% higher at ₹706 on Friday ahead of the business update announcement. However, the stock has experienced volatility recently, having declined 10.10% over the past month, reflecting broader market sentiment and investor expectations for the retail sector. As reported by analysts, the revenue growth provides positive signals for market share expansion, though the flat same-store sales growth raises concerns about operational efficiency and underlying consumer demand trends within core markets. Investors will be monitoring the company's performance in upcoming quarters to assess the sustained impact of its expansion strategy and ability to improve same-store sales growth.
