On a standalone basis, Universal Cables delivered exceptional financial performance with net profit surging 90.7% YoY to ₹37.18 crore compared to ₹19.5 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The company's EBITDA for the quarter stood at ₹94.57 crore with an EBITDA margin of 10.01%, while profit before tax increased 66.8% YoY to ₹45.90 crore. The strong performance was driven by higher sales volumes, improved product mix, sustained momentum in the Extra-High Voltage (EHV) cable business, and strong growth in the capacitors and allied power quality solution business. On a consolidated basis, the company reported net profit of ₹70.14 crore, up 108.8% YoY and 27.5% QoQ.
The company's top-line growth was equally impressive, with standalone revenue from operations jumping 57.5% YoY to ₹945.06 crore in Q1 FY26, marking the company's highest-ever Q1 turnover. In line with the robust earnings performance, Universal Cables has provided equally strong guidance for FY27, projecting revenue growth of 25% led by a strong order book and disciplined capital expenditure allocation. Managing Director & CEO Mr Y.S. Lodha commented on the quarterly results, highlighting that global electricity demand is accelerating faster than supply due to digitalisation, electrification, and industrialisation. He emphasized that AI infrastructure, electrification, reshoring, and defence readiness are all increasing the need for reliable power just as supply-side constraints persist through interconnection delays and grid complexity.
Following its board meeting held on 7th August 2026, Universal Cables has announced significant capacity expansion plans. The company has increased its investment in the ongoing capacity augmentation project from ₹550 crore to approximately ₹617 crore, focusing on enhancing capabilities of Medium Voltage and High Voltage power cable businesses through debottlenecking processes. Additionally, the board approved a proposal to significantly expand optical fibre production capacity of Birla Furukawa Fibre Optics Private Limited, a joint venture with Furukawa Electric Co, Ltd., Japan, with an ambitious expansion estimated at approximately USD 500 million (equivalent to around ₹4,800 crore).
