Motilal Oswal has issued a sell rating on Tata Technologies with a target price of ₹600, marking a significant shift in brokerage sentiment despite the company's strong quarterly performance. The latest research report dated July 17, 2026 highlights concerns over premium valuations, with the stock currently trading at around 38 times 12-month forward P/E. According to the report, while execution has improved and deal momentum has strengthened, revenue ramp-up and margin expansion are still likely to play out gradually over the next few quarters. The brokerage believes the current valuation already reflects much of the expected recovery, leaving limited room for disappointment.

The services segment continued to be the primary growth driver for Tata Technologies, with revenue rising 6.3% sequentially and 34.6% year-on-year to ₹1,296.9 crore. In US dollar terms, services revenue stood at $136.6 million, up 4.3% quarter-on-quarter in constant currency. The services segment demonstrated exceptional performance with gross profit increasing 48.5% YoY and 10.8% QoQ to ₹395.8 crore, while gross margin improved to 30.5% from 27.7% in Q1 FY26 and 29.3% in Q4 FY26. The management highlighted that the strong execution witnessed in the second half of fiscal year 2026 had continued into the June quarter, with services revenue growth of 4.3% quarter-on-quarter ahead of estimates of 3.1%. Despite strong quarterly performance, brokerages remained cautious on the stock's valuations and margin trajectory. JPMorgan retained its 'Underweight' rating with a target price of ₹540, noting that the recent rally has left valuations stretched with the stock trading at around 38 times FY27 estimated earnings. The brokerage acknowledged that first-quarter revenue exceeded expectations, aided by 4.3% quarter-on-quarter constant-currency growth in overall revenue, services revenue and the automotive vertical as deal ramp-ups gathered pace, but margins came in below expectations. Kotak Institutional Equities also maintained its 'Sell' rating with a target price of ₹500, highlighting that the stock trades at around 32 times FY28 estimated earnings and at a premium to peers such as KPIT Technologies and Tata Elxsi. The latest Motilal Oswal report reinforces these concerns, setting a target price of ₹600 and reiterating the sell rating, citing the stock's premium valuation relative to growth prospects and peer comparisons.
