Swiggy has renewed its comprehensive insurance programme for delivery partners with IndusInd General Insurance Company Ltd, covering over 25 lakh gig workers in FY26 under accident and health insurance benefits. According to reports from The Hindu BusinessLine, the renewed programme offers extensive coverage including accidental death cover of ₹10 lakh, in-patient hospitalisation cover of up to ₹2 lakh, and family health coverage of up to ₹1 lakh. The policy covers pre-existing diseases from Day 1 with no waiting period and extends maternity benefits to women delivery partners as well as spouses of male partners where family cover applies.
The programme includes cashless and reimbursement facilities for hospitalisation, day care procedures, and outpatient treatment. As reported by The Hindu BusinessLine, additional benefits cover emergency ambulance services up to ₹10,000, OPD treatment up to ₹10,000, child education support in case of accidental death or permanent total disability, and loss-of-pay support. All covered partners and their families also get round-the-clock free teleconsultations with general physicians and specialists. Delivery partners can now seamlessly access and claim insurance benefits through the Swiggy Delivery Partner App, making the process more convenient and efficient.
Swiggy's FY26 annual report reveals significant financial commitment to partner protection, with the company disbursing more than ₹21 crore in insurance claims during the year. According to the company's latest disclosures, Swiggy achieved a 96% settlement rate within 15 days, demonstrating efficient claims processing and strong financial backing for its delivery partner insurance programme. The platform also reports loss-of-pay coverage for illnesses for up to 13 weeks, providing comprehensive income protection for partners unable to work due to medical conditions.
During the previous policy period, 75 per cent of maternity claims were made by spouses of delivery partners, while the remaining 25 per cent were utilized by Swiggy's women delivery partners. According to The Hindu BusinessLine, this data highlights the significant role of family members in accessing healthcare benefits within the gig economy workforce. Saurav Goyal, Chief Operating Officer of Swiggy's Food Marketplace, stated that the programme had evolved into one of the most comprehensive protection initiatives in India's gig economy.
