Foreign institutional investors have nearly tripled their stake in Sterlite Technologies to 19.7% as of July 2026, up from 6.7% in June 2025, according to The Economic Times. The optical fibre maker has emerged as a notable beneficiary of selective foreign investor interest, with the stock skyrocketing 415% in 2026 despite broader foreign selling pressure that has seen overseas investors pull out nearly $20 billion from India in FY26. As per The Economic Times, foreign investors are increasingly becoming more selective, with valuations playing a bigger role in where they put their money, making Sterlite Tech a standout beneficiary of this selective foreign interest.

Sterlite Technologies delivered its strongest quarterly performance in Q1FY27, with consolidated net profit surging 1870% to ₹197 crore from ₹10 crore in the same quarter last year. According to CNBC TV18, the company's June-quarter revenue of ₹1,910 crore was 20% above CLSA's estimates, representing an 87% increase from ₹1,019 crore in Q1FY26 and a 33% sequential growth from ₹1,441 crore in Q4FY26. EBITDA reached an all-time high of ₹397 crore, with margin expanding to 20.8%, the highest in nearly 20 quarters. The company's optical business, which contributes 96% of total revenue, grew 34% quarter-on-quarter and 92% year-on-year. As per Moneycontrol, the performance comes as hyperscalers and telecom operators accelerate investments in AI infrastructure, driving demand for high-capacity optical connectivity solutions and next-generation data centres.
Factoring in the company's recent ₹1,500 crore Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP) and the stronger-than-expected first-quarter performance, CLSA raised its earnings forecasts by 7% to 125% over financial year 2027-2029. According to CNBC TV18, the company now offers a potential to see its Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortisation (EBITDA) to grow at a Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 62% during this period. The brokerage noted that EBITDA increased 97% sequentially to ₹385 crore, with margin expanding to 20%, aided by the US tariff reset. The optimism follows Sterlite Technologies' strongest-ever quarterly performance, with the company achieving a net debt-free balance sheet after the fundraise.
The company secured a multi-year contract worth $1.11 billion (over ₹10,000 crore) to supply optical connectivity products for next-generation AI data centres, as reported by The Economic Times. Sterlite Tech also received multiple hyperscaler orders worth more than $100 million for Neuralis, its integrated data centre solutions portfolio, and won a strategic order for long-haul, dark-fibre high-density micro-cables. The open order book stood at a record ₹18,618 crore at the end of the quarter, reflecting strong demand from hyperscalers and telecom operators investing in high-speed connectivity for AI data centres and next-generation digital infrastructure. The company's strong order book provides strong revenue visibility for the coming quarters as the AI infrastructure investment cycle continues to accelerate.
Sterlite Tech achieved a net debt-free balance sheet during the quarter after raising ₹1,500 crore through a qualified institutional placement, according to The Economic Times. Following the fundraise, CRISIL revised its rating outlook to 'Stable' while ICRA upgraded the company's credit rating to 'AA (Stable)'. The balance sheet improvement provides stronger capital base for scaling production, investing in products, and managing working capital as the company enters a larger order execution cycle. The company was in the news earlier this month after it won a major European Patent dispute with Fujikura Ltd., after the European Patent Office (EPO) and Technical Board of Appeal revoked Fujikura's European Patent in total. According to Bloomberg analyst recommendations, all four analysts covering the stock have a 'Buy' rating, with the consensus target price standing at ₹674, implying an upside of about 20% from Friday's closing.
