SMC Global Securities delivered robust financial results for Q1 FY27, with consolidated net profit jumping 22.97% to ₹36.57 crore compared to the same period last year. According to latest reports from Business Standard, the company's total income rose 21.22% to ₹515.08 crore during Q1 FY27, demonstrating strong operational growth across key business segments. The company's operating profit margin (OPM) improved to 20.76% from 23.56% in the previous year, indicating enhanced operational efficiency.
The company's diversified business model showed strong performance across multiple segments. As reported by Business Standard, broking, distribution, and trading revenue stood at ₹316.30 crore, up 15.04% YoY, while insurance broking services revenue rose 44.37% YoY to ₹167.27 crore. However, financing activities revenue declined 8.58% YoY to ₹46.46 crore during the quarter under review. The company's profit before depreciation and tax (PBDT) increased 15% to ₹51.95 crore, while profit before tax (PBT) rose 21% to ₹46.58 crore.
Total expenses increased by 21.11% to ₹469.02 crore in Q1 FY27, primarily driven by higher operational costs. According to Business Standard, fees and commission expenses rose 31.41% YoY and employee benefit expenses increased 16.54% YoY, while finance costs declined 0.61% during the period, partially offsetting the overall expense growth. The company's cost-to-income ratio improved despite the higher operational expenses, indicating better operational leverage.
The board approved a significant capital raising initiative through secured, rated, listed, redeemable, non-convertible debentures (NCDs) of face value ₹1,000 each for a base issue size of up to ₹7,500 lakh. As reported by Business Standard, the company has an option to retain oversubscription of up to ₹7,500 lakh under the green shoe option, aggregating up to 15 lakh NCDs for an aggregate issue size of up to ₹15,000 lakh (₹150 crore). This capital infusion will strengthen the company's balance sheet and support future growth initiatives.
Despite the strong quarterly performance, shares of SMC Global Securities rose only 0.24% to ₹75.67 on the BSE, indicating a muted market response to the results. The Delhi-based stockbroking company remains the flagship entity of the SMC group, which operates as one of the integrated capital market intermediaries in the financial sector. The company's consistent growth trajectory and improved operational metrics position it well for continued market performance.
