According to the latest financial results approved by the Board of Directors on August 14, 2026, Scoobee Day Garments India reported a standalone net loss of ₹38.9 lakh for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, representing a significant reversal from the net profit of ₹87.4 lakh recorded in Q1FY26. The company's financial performance showed substantial deterioration across key metrics during the first quarter of FY27, with total expenses of ₹852.4 lakh exceeding total income of ₹800.0 lakh, resulting in a net loss despite revenue growth. This performance reflects the operational challenges facing the company as it navigates margin pressures and competitive dynamics in the garments and aluminium roofing segments. The unaudited standalone results were reviewed by statutory auditors Varma & Varma Chartered Accountants in accordance with Standard on Review Engagements (SRE) 2410 and Regulation 33 of SEBI (LODR) Regulations 2015.
The company's revenue from operations expanded significantly by 50% year-on-year to ₹78.7 lakh from ₹1,554.1 lakh in the prior year period, driven primarily by the core garments segment which contributed ₹741.6 lakh to total sales, up from ₹1,493.8 lakh in Q1FY25. However, the aluminium roofing and accessories segment saw a contraction, with revenue falling to ₹45.5 lakh from ₹60.3 lakh year-ago. This notable divergence between revenue generation and profitability indicates that the garments business is operating on extremely thin margins, with unallocable expenditures and finance costs further eroding the bottom line. The revenue growth demonstrates the company's ability to expand its core business despite facing operational efficiency challenges. Finance costs remained relatively stable at ₹30.7 lakh, compared to ₹69.5 lakh in Q1FY25, while the company reported no exceptional items during the period.
The garments segment generated ₹741.6 lakh in revenue but posted a segment result of just ₹0.7 lakh before tax and interest, highlighting pressure on operational efficiency despite top-line activity. In contrast, the aluminium roofing segment reported a loss of ₹3.5 lakh despite lower revenue of ₹45.5 lakh. The shift from a ₹117.3 lakh pre-tax profit in Q1FY26 to a ₹52.4 lakh pre-tax loss in Q1FY27 demonstrates the operational challenges facing the company. Key expense components included cost of materials consumed at ₹339.1 lakh, employee benefits expense at ₹299.0 lakh, and depreciation and amortization at ₹72.9 lakh. The segment-wise performance analysis reveals that while the garments business drives revenue growth, it faces significant margin compression. The company's total expenses for the quarter stood at ₹852.4 lakh, higher than the total income of ₹800.0 lakh, indicating the impact of operational inefficiencies on overall profitability.
During the Board meeting, the company considered the continuation of Mr. K L V Narayanan as Managing Director upon attaining the age of 70 years during his current term, subject to shareholder consent at the upcoming Annual General Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at 12:00 pm. The meeting will be conducted through Video Conference and Other Audio-Visual Means (OAVM) in compliance with regulatory circulars. The paid-up equity share capital remains unchanged at ₹1,692.0 lakh, with basic earnings per share recording a loss of ₹0.23 compared to a profit of ₹0.65 in Q1FY26. This governance decision reflects the company's commitment to maintaining continuity while addressing regulatory compliance requirements and shareholder expectations for leadership stability.
