The Board of Directors of Raymond Lifestyle officially approved the appointment of Satyaki Ghosh as CEO and key managerial personnel with immediate effect from January 19, 2026, as announced in a regulatory filing on Monday. As per PTI and The Economic Times, this marks the fourth leadership change since 2020, with Ghosh succeeding a series of executives including Sanjay Behl, Joe Kuruvilla, and Sunil Kataria, with Gautam Singhania having run operations since April last year. The appointment comes as the company continues to reshape its leadership structure following its recent corporate changes. Ghosh brings over 25 years of experience across FMCG, textiles, retail, and consumer businesses, spanning both B2B and B2C segments. He joins from the Aditya Birla Group, where he most recently served as CEO of the Cellulosic Fashion Yarn business at Grasim Industries, overseeing large manufacturing operations with multi-country manufacturing exposure and focusing on operational efficiency, sustainability initiatives, and profitable expansion.
According to PTI and The Economic Times, Ghosh's extensive career includes leadership roles across multiple industries and geographies. In his most recent role at Grasim Industries, he led a manufacturing-led business focused on operations, sustainability and profitability. Previously within the Aditya Birla Group, he served as CEO of Domestic Textiles and led the Thai Acrylic Fibre operations, managing multi-country operations and complex global manufacturing setups across multiple countries and manufacturing locations. His earlier career spans more than 7 years at L'Oréal India in senior roles, including as Director of the Consumer Products Division, managing major global brands such as L'Oréal Paris, Garnier, and Maybelline. The regulatory filing also mentions his leadership stints at PepsiCo India, Spencer's Retail, GE Lighting, and Burns Philp in various senior positions, providing him with comprehensive experience across diverse business environments and operational challenges.
Gautam Hari Singhania, Raymond Group Chairman, stated that Ghosh joins at a crucial inflection point as rising domestic consumption and evolving geopolitical developments present significant opportunities for the lifestyle business in both domestic and international markets. According to recent reports, Singhania noted that "Satyaki is joining Raymond Lifestyle at a crucial inflection point wherein the business is poised for growth and transformation with a plethora of opportunities across the sector. With domestic consumption in India rising rapidly and the evolving geopolitical developments opening up new horizons in international markets, our Lifestyle business is poised for growth in long term. Satyaki's on-boarding will unleash fresh energy and passion across the business and its stakeholders." Ghosh expressed his delight in joining an iconic Indian brand with a rich legacy of over a century and plans to focus on consumer centricity, innovation and sharpening the offerings to contribute meaningfully to larger value creation. The appointment comes as Raymond Lifestyle strengthens its leadership team following recent organisational changes. The company has also onboarded E.C. Prasad, who is expected to take charge as CFO at the company's forthcoming board meeting. As per multiple reports, these leadership changes are aimed at strengthening execution as the company targets long-term growth in India and overseas markets.
The new CEO takes charge during a challenging period for the company. As reported by Mint, Raymond Lifestyle's net profit fell 25% year-on-year in the first half of FY26, despite revenue growing 12%. The branded apparel business saw Ebitda fall sharply as the company rapidly expanded its store network, with many stores proving unprofitable while also overspending on marketing. The company's net working capital days increased to 105 days from 97 days a year earlier by September 2025, largely due to rapid store additions and inventory build-up amid softening demand.
Raymond Lifestyle operates over 1,650 exclusive stores across 600 Indian cities and manufactures worsted suiting and shirting fabrics alongside various apparel brands, as reported by The Hindu BusinessLine. However, the company closed 66 stores across its apparel brands in the first half of FY26. According to Singhania's statement to Mint, "We closed stores because we expanded too quickly, and some stores were probably in the wrong location. This is why some correction happened. It was across all brands." He noted that retail real estate costs have been rising steadily across metros and smaller cities. The company's apparel portfolio includes men's westernwear brands Raymond, ColorPlus, and Park Avenue, as well as Ethnix, launched in 2017.
Raymond Lifestyle shares ended at ₹934 on NSE, down by ₹11.30 or 1.20%, according to The Hindu BusinessLine. The company faces market challenges including GST rate revisions in September that increased taxes on apparel priced above ₹2,500 from 12% to 18%, hurting demand for high-value purchases. Despite near-term pressures from sluggish demand affecting the broader apparel sector, all three analysts tracking Raymond Lifestyle maintain 'buy' ratings, with Systermatix Research expecting 17.2% compound annual growth rate in branded apparel revenue between FY25 and FY28, as reported by Mint.
