RailTel Corporation of India has secured a significant contract worth ₹31.21 crore from NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) for comprehensive IT infrastructure upgradation. According to the latest regulatory filing submitted to the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE), the work order encompasses supply, installation, commissioning, operation & maintenance of IT infrastructure upgradation. The contract was officially received on 22 May 2026 at 18:32 hours.
The project is scheduled for completion by 31 January 2027, providing a clear execution timeline for the infrastructure upgradation. As reported in the regulatory filing, the estimated order size of ₹31,21,42,210 excluding taxes indicates the comprehensive nature of the IT infrastructure modernization project. The contract does not involve any related party transactions, ensuring proper corporate governance standards.
The company has clarified that the contract is awarded by a domestic entity and does not involve any promoter or related party interest, ensuring proper corporate governance standards. According to the regulatory filing, this domestic entity contract reinforces RailTel's position in the government infrastructure sector, with no interest from the promoter group in the entity awarding the contract.
RailTel Corporation of India, incorporated in 2000, operates with the objective of creating nationwide broadband and VPN services, telecom, and multimedia networks to modernize the train control operation and safety system of Indian Railways. As reported by Business Standard, the company has demonstrated strong financial performance with standalone net profit jumping 35.7% to ₹143.52 crore in Q4 FY26, compared with ₹105.78 crore in Q4 FY25.
Despite the contract win, RailTel Corporation of India's stock performance showed mixed results, with the scrip falling 0.33% to end at ₹319.80 on the BSE. According to Business Standard, the company's revenue from operations had also demonstrated strong growth, rising 27.6% year-on-year to ₹1,668.86 crore in Q4 FY26.
