Infrastructure firm Power Mech Projects Ltd announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, PM Green Private Ltd, has secured a significant order from West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (WBSEDCL) to establish a ₹3,126 crore Battery Energy Storage System project. The order encompasses a 250 MW/1,000 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Goaltore, Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal, structured under a build-own-operate (BOO) model with a 100% off-take guarantee from WBSEDCL. The project includes a greenshoe option of 250 MW/1,000 MWh for the Durgapur Project Ltd (DPL) campus in Durgapur, West Bengal, bringing the combined order value to ₹3,126 crore, excluding GST. According to latest reports, Power Mech Projects' current order book now exceeds ₹57,000 crore following this major contract win.
The comprehensive scope of work covers design, finance, engineering, procurement, construction, operation, and maintenance of the BESS facilities at both designated sites. The project is scheduled for commissioning within 18 months from the signing of the Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA), followed by an extended operation and maintenance period of 180 months. The company confirmed that the order has been awarded by WBSEDCL, a domestic entity, and is not classified as a related party transaction, with neither promoters nor group companies holding any interest in WBSEDCL. Earlier in October, the company had secured another large-scale order worth over ₹2,500 crore (excluding GST) from Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) for the EPC package for balance of plants at the Singareni Super Thermal Power Project in Telangana.

Shares of Power Mech Projects Ltd responded positively to the major order announcement, with the stock jumping 1.3% higher in the early morning session to hit an intraday high of ₹3,428 apiece on the NSE, as reported by Upstox. The stock held on to gains in the afternoon session following the company's announcement of securing the large-scale order from the West Bengal State Electricity Board. This positive market reaction reflects investor confidence in the company's growing order book and strong position in the power infrastructure sector.
