
Power Grid Corporation of India has successfully acquired Krishnagiri REZ Transmission, the Project SPV to establish Inter-State Transmission system for Transmission System for integration of Krishnagiri REZ Phase-I, on build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) basis. According to latest reports, the acquisition was completed on 03 August 2026 under the Tariff based competitive bidding (TBCB) route, with the company paying ₹19.82 crore for the project. The acquisition involves the construction of 765kV & 400kV transmission lines traversing through Andhra Pradesh, Telangana & Karnataka, along with associated bays.
The acquisition was executed after Power Grid Corporation was selected as the successful bidder under Tariff based competitive bidding. As reported by Business Standard, the bid process was coordinated by PFC Consulting (PFCCL), which served as the Bid Process Coordinator for this transaction. The latest acquisition was also facilitated by REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (REC PDCL), demonstrating the company's continued success in competitive bidding processes.
This acquisition represents Power Grid's strategic expansion into the renewable energy transmission sector, specifically targeting the integration of Krishnagiri REZ Phase-I. According to the reports, the project involves establishing an Inter-State Transmission system to support the renewable energy integration in the region. The latest acquisition also includes bay extension works at substations in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, requiring approvals from the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission.
