Bengaluru-based KIS Group and Paras Dairy have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a joint venture for developing 10 BioCNG plants across multiple Indian states. According to the latest reports, the partnership will focus on setting up these facilities in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra, along with other states, with an estimated investment of ₹1,000 crore. The MoU was formally signed at the IBET Expo, marking the official commencement of this strategic collaboration between the two companies. As per ETManufacturing, the projects will be developed across these states by 2029, with the first facility targeted to commence operations in the fourth quarter of 2027.
The joint venture will be structured with KIS Group handling the technology, construction, and operational aspects of the BioCNG plants. Meanwhile, Paras Dairy will be responsible for securing the feedstock, arranging land, and obtaining necessary approvals for the project. Under the partnership, KIS Group will be responsible for technology, construction and operation of the plants, while Paras Dairy will manage feedstock arrangement, land and approvals. Each facility is expected to process between 65,000 and 85,000 metric tonnes of organic waste annually, including dairy waste, cattle manure, napier grass and agricultural residue. The plants are designed to produce up to 10 metric tonnes of BioCNG per day along with organic fertilisers and biogenic carbon dioxide as by-products. This strategic division ensures comprehensive project management while leveraging both companies' core competencies.
Once operational, each project is expected to displace 8–10 metric tonnes of natural gas daily and generate about 40,000–50,000 carbon credits annually. The initiative is expected to create around 500 direct and indirect jobs while integrating farmers into the BioCNG value chain through feedstock supply arrangements. As per ETManufacturing, KIS Group Founder and CEO KR Raghunath emphasized that India generates significant volumes of cattle dung and agricultural waste, creating a large feedstock base for BioCNG production. Paras Dairy Vice-President Vaibhav Nagar noted that the company's farmer network across key dairy-producing states would help support feedstock availability while creating additional income opportunities for rural communities through participation in the BioCNG ecosystem.
