Parag Milk Foods shares advanced 1.14% to ₹273.70 following the company's announcement to quadruple paneer manufacturing capacity. The stock movement reflects positive investor sentiment toward the company's strategic expansion plans in the high-growth value-added dairy segment. The announcement was made pursuant to Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, with key particulars including existing capacity of 20 MT/day, proposed addition of 60 MT/day, aggregate capacity of 80 MT/day, investment requirement of ₹100 crore, commissioning timeline of June 2027, and financing through internal accruals, borrowings or lease arrangements.
Parag Milk Foods Ltd announced plans to invest approximately ₹100 crore to expand its paneer manufacturing capacity fourfold to 80 metric tonnes (MT) per day from the existing 20 MT/day across its facilities at Manchar in Maharashtra and Palamaner in Andhra Pradesh. According to the latest regulatory filing made on September 21, 2026, the expansion targets commissioning by June 2027 and addresses near-capacity utilization at existing plants. The investment will be funded through internal accruals, borrowings or lease arrangements, with the company adding 60 MT/day capacity through brownfield and greenfield initiatives to meet growing demand. The expanded facilities will manufacture both regular and high-protein paneer ranges, with the company planning to use its manufacturing capabilities and pan-India distribution network to expand paneer availability across General Trade, Modern Trade, Quick Commerce, e-commerce and Hotel, Restaurant and Catering (HoReCa) channels.
Value-added products contribute more than 90% of Parag Milk Foods' turnover, while paneer is one of its flagship categories and has grown 28% over the last two years. As reported by the latest disclosure, the company's branded paneer has a shelf life of up to 75 days without preservatives, enabled by its manufacturing and packaging technology. The expansion will cover both standard and high-protein paneer ranges, with the company planning to use its manufacturing scale and packaging technology to enable wider distribution while maintaining product freshness and quality. According to an IMARC report cited in the disclosure, the Indian paneer market was valued at ₹73,140 crore in 2025 and is projected to reach ₹2.15 lakh crore by 2034, growing at a CAGR of 12.34% between 2026 and 2034.
The expansion addresses a significant market opportunity, as the organized paneer market currently accounts for only 5-6% of the total Indian paneer market, according to the company's disclosure. This segment shift from unorganized to organized players presents substantial growth potential for established players like Parag Milk Foods. The investment is strategically aligned with the company's highest-revenue segment, with value-added products driving over 90% of turnover, suggesting that future revenue growth will remain heavily dependent on successful execution of this capacity expansion and continued penetration of the organized paneer market. As consumers look for higher and more consistent quality, the demand for paneer is shifting from unorganized to organized players, creating a significant opportunity for established players to strengthen their market position.
Rahul Kumar Srivastava, COO of Parag Milk Foods Limited, stated that the scale-up will allow the company to expand pan-India distribution and strengthen its position in value-added dairy through innovation and wider consumer access. According to the latest regulatory filing, he emphasized that this concentrated bet on value-added dairy reflects the company's focus on its highest-revenue segment, with the ₹100 crore capex directly aligned with the value-added products that drive over 90% of turnover. The company has reported a 20% fall in consolidated net profit to ₹22 crore despite a 11% increase in revenue to ₹945 crore in Q1 FY27 as compared with Q1 FY26. The investment is part of the company's strategy to build scale in high-growth value-added categories, strengthen flagship brands and develop differentiated products through innovation.
