Mumbai Police have arrested Orris Infrastructure Managing Director Amit Gupta following a complaint by Godrej Properties alleging forgery, cheating, criminal breach of trust and criminal conspiracy. According to reports from PTI, Gupta was arrested in Amritsar in connection with FIR No. 0183/2026, which was registered at Vikhroli police station on March 17. A court has remanded Gupta to police custody until August 27. Orris Infrastructure, which is based in Gurugram with its corporate office in DLF Phase 2, has not issued an immediate comment on the developments. A senior police officer in Gurugram confirmed that authorities were seeking Gupta's arrest in a case registered at Kherki Daula police station in July in connection with a land collaboration dispute.
The case relates to the Godrej Air project in Sector 85, Gurugram, where Godrej Properties and Orris Infrastructure were partners. As reported by PTI, Godrej Properties has alleged that unauthorised changes were made to the LLP statutory records filed with the Registrar of Companies (ROC) using false documents. The complaint specifically refers to a Form-3 allegedly filed with the ROC on January 14, 2026, where the company's nominated partner was removed from records without authorisation and another individual was allegedly shown as a partner. Godrej Properties has also questioned the alleged transfer of its 37.5% interest in the LLP. The FIR invokes several provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita relating to forgery, cheating, criminal breach of trust, the use of forged documents and criminal conspiracy.
The arrest has renewed attention on Orris Infrastructure's Greenopolis project in Gurugram, where approximately 1,650 homebuyers have been waiting for possession for years. According to reports from PTI, buyers have alleged that many families paid a substantial portion of the sale consideration before construction was halted. The prolonged delay has left buyers without possession while they continue to face financial commitments. The case represents a significant development in the ongoing dispute between the two real estate companies over their partnership in the Godrej Air project.
This arrest follows earlier investigations by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with an alleged large-scale real estate fraud case.
