NRB Bearings has successfully completed its acquisition of Mahant Tool Room Private Limited (MTRPL), marking a significant expansion into the aerospace manufacturing sector. According to reports from Business Standard, this strategic move extends the company's capabilities well beyond its core automotive and industrial verticals. The acquisition positions the group to capture a meaningful share of the estimated $14.5B-$16.5B global aerospace ecosystem for critical components.
In tandem with the acquisition announcement, MTRPL has been awarded the AS9100D Certification for Precision Machined Components and Bearings for Aerospace & Defence. As reported by Business Standard, this certification represents the gold standard for aviation manufacturing excellence, ensuring the highest quality standards are maintained across the newly acquired operations. The completion of this acquisition was disclosed to the stock exchanges pursuant to Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
The acquisition provides NRB Bearings with access to a comprehensive range of aerospace components including landing gear parts, fuel injection systems, emergency doors, and plain spherical bearings. According to Business Standard, this expanded product portfolio positions the company to serve the critical needs of the global aerospace industry, diversifying its revenue streams beyond traditional automotive and industrial applications. The acquisition supports NRB Bearings' objective to double its consolidated revenue by 2031.
By integrating MTR's specialized manufacturing capabilities with its existing friction solutions, NRB Bearings aims to establish a dual-use technology moat. This approach leverages a capital-efficient plug-and-play operational model to compress time-to-market for high-barrier segments. The company plans to utilize its research and development prowess and relationships with global automotive and tier 1 giants, including Daimler, Audi, Magna, and ZF, to unlock commercial aerospace and defence opportunities. As per NRB Bearings, this strategic expansion allows the company to enter the high-precision global aerospace and defence sectors.
