The revised structure includes significant improvements to allowance structures beyond basic salary components. As reported by Business Standard, the revision also includes changes to Night Shift and other allowances, providing comprehensive coverage for various operational requirements. The Cafeteria Approach at 30 per cent of Basic Pay offers employees flexibility in choosing benefits that suit their individual needs and circumstances, while the Special Allowance for project-specific employees ensures equitable compensation across different operational locations.
Amitava Mukherjee, Chairman and Managing Director of NMDC, emphasized the strategic importance of workforce recognition, stating that "Our workforce is the backbone of our operations, and their dedication has been instrumental in enabling NMDC to consistently contribute to India's mineral security. This revision will strengthen their financial security and motivation, while fostering a more empowered and engaged workforce." According to Business Standard, the company acknowledges that its non-executives play a vital role in its mining operations and contribute significantly to strengthening India's mineral security and national development.
As reported by Business Standard, NMDC stated that the wage revision ensures that the benefits of the company's growth are shared with the workforce. The company positions this revision as part of its commitment to maintaining operational excellence while supporting employee financial security. The tripartite wage settlement approach ensures fair representation of all stakeholders in the wage revision process, providing a structured framework for future compensation adjustments.
