According to exchange data from Business Standard, Nippon India Mutual Fund has acquired 2.64 lakh shares (1.15 percent) in Sanofi India for ₹83.19 crore through a bulk deal on June 12, 2026. The acquisition was conducted at a price of ₹3,150 per share through open market transactions. This additional purchase brings Nippon India MF's total equity stake in the biopharma company to over 1 percent, building on their existing position. The shares were sold by HDFC Life Insurance Company, which offloaded 2.75 lakh shares (1.19 percent stake) at the same price, resulting in a net institutional change of approximately 0.05 percent in total shareholding.
As reported by Business Standard, Nippon Life India Trustee through Nippon India Small Cap Fund already held 3.79 percent equity stake in Sanofi India as of March 2026. Meanwhile, HDFC Life Insurance Company through Shareholders Solvency Margin Account held 1.47 percent stake in the company during the same period. The latest acquisition by Nippon India MF represents a significant increase in their overall shareholding position, with the bulk deal structure ensuring efficient execution of the transaction.
According to Business Standard reports, Sanofi India shares surged 5.58 percent to ₹3,295 following the bulk deal execution on the BSE. The positive market reaction reflects investor confidence in the institutional stake changes, with the stock showing strong momentum after the transaction. This represents a significant turnaround from the previous session's performance, where the stock had closed 0.78 percent lower at ₹3,120.9 on the National Stock Exchange.
As reported by Business Standard, Sanofi India is engaged in the manufacture and marketing of pharmaceutical products and vaccines. On a standalone basis, the company's net profit declined 14.14 percent to ₹102.60 crore while net sales declined 11.87 percent to ₹472.30 crore in Q4 March 2026 over Q4 March 2025. Despite these challenging financial results, the market response to the institutional stake changes suggests investor focus remains on long-term strategic positioning rather than immediate quarterly performance.
