NIBE Group has inaugurated a state-of-the-art Defence Manufacturing Complex in Shirdi, Maharashtra, marking a significant step in India's push for indigenous defence production. The facility was inaugurated in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, alongside senior military officials, defence scientists, and other dignitaries including General Anil Chauhan and Dr. Samir V. Kamat. According to the latest reports from Angel One, the integrated facility has been designed as a next-generation ecosystem dedicated to advanced defence technologies and manufacturing capabilities, featuring comprehensive capabilities for defence and aerospace technologies.
The complex features several key manufacturing facilities including a 155mm Ammunition Shell Manufacturing Plant with planned annual capacity of 5 lakh shells. As reported by Angel One, the facility also includes the inauguration of indigenous TNT and RDX plant technologies, along with a Bio-CNG & Hydrogen Fuel Plant. These capabilities represent significant advancements in India's domestic defence manufacturing capabilities, with the integrated complex positioned as a next-generation defence manufacturing ecosystem covering advanced artillery systems, missile technologies, ammunition production, rocket systems, energetic materials, autonomous platforms, and space-related technologies. The event also highlighted successful trials of the 100 KM Loitering Munition Skystriker, further demonstrating NIBE Group's expanding technological footprint in next-generation warfare systems. Addressing the gathering, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the company's contribution to domestic defence manufacturing and stated, "I am delighted to witness the scale at which NIBE Group has built its expertise in defence equipment development and manufacturing in support of the national objective of 'Make in India, Make for the World'".
