Nexedge Capital has appointed Apurva Sahijwani, former managing director and CEO of Avendus Wealth Management, as co-founder to strengthen its leadership team. According to reports from The Economic Times, the appointment comes as the firm accelerates its expansion across India's wealth management market. Sahijwani brings over 28 years of experience in private banking and wealth management to the independent wealth management and multi-family office platform. The appointment adds an experienced private banking executive to Nexedge Capital's leadership as competition grows for wealthy individuals and families seeking specialised wealth management services.
Sahijwani served as managing director and CEO of Avendus Wealth Management from May 2024 to September 2026, where he led a rebuild of the business and grew it into one of the fastest-growing private wealth franchises in the country. As reported by The Economic Times, he previously held the position of Head of Private Banking at Axis Bank, where he played a key role in launching and scaling Burgundy Private. His career began at Kotak Securities and included senior roles at ICICI Bank, HSBC, Citibank, Axis Bank and Kotak Wealth Management. Sahijwani's experience across established financial institutions and private banking businesses could support Nexedge Capital's next stage of development, as the company seeks to serve affluent clients through specialised advisory models outside traditional banking structures.
According to The Economic Times, Nexedge Capital has established a presence across 11 Indian cities with over 240 professionals, including 95 senior bankers. The platform currently advises more than 1,300 ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families, with assets under management exceeding USD 3 billion and assets under advisory exceeding USD 5 billion. These figures indicate the scale of its existing advisory operations as it seeks to expand its position in the domestic wealth management market. Founder & CEO Anirudha Taparia stated that bringing Sahijwani on board as co-founder reflects the scale of their ambition in the wealth management sector.
As reported by The Economic Times, Sahijwani emphasized that India's wealth management industry is at an inflection point, with a new generation of entrepreneurs, business owners and wealthy families demanding more independence and sophistication. "India's wealth management industry is at an inflection point. A new generation of entrepreneurs, business owners and wealthy families is demanding more independence, more sophistication and a partner truly aligned with their long-term interests," Sahijwani stated. He believes the next phase of growth belongs to independent platforms that combine institutional-grade expertise with entrepreneurial speed, which aligns with Nexedge Capital's strategic positioning in the market. The company has not disclosed specific expansion targets or changes to its operating model following the appointment, though the firm is building an independent wealth platform intended to serve the next phase of growth in India's wealth management market.
