Neuland Laboratories shares zoomed 8.42% to ₹21,645.55 following the company's stellar Q1FY27 results and announced manufacturing expansion. The stock outperformed the broader market as investors responded positively to the exceptional financial performance. The rally came after the company posted a sharp improvement in profitability on a year-on-year basis and its board approved an expansion of manufacturing capacity at its Unit 1 facility in Telangana. According to Business Standard, the board approved the enhancement of manufacturing capacity at Unit 1 located at Bonthapally Village, Gummadidala Mandal, Sangareddy District, Telangana. The proposed capacity addition is 18 KL and will require an investment of ₹39.8 crore.
Neuland and Gland Pharma announced a long-term strategic CDMO partnership that will significantly enhance both companies' capabilities in the high-value sterile API CDMO market. Under this partnership, Gland will establish a sterile manufacturing suite for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) pertaining to microparticle depot products to support Neuland's growing demand for sterile APIs used in microparticle depot products and other complex formulations. The cGMP-, USFDA- and EU-compliant facility will add around 1,400 kg of annual capacity, combining Neuland's complex API expertise with Gland's sterile manufacturing capabilities. As part of the collaboration, Neuland Laboratories' board has approved the execution of a corporate guarantee of ₹40 crore in favour of Gland Pharma to support the company's obligations under a proposed Loan Licence Agreement. This agreement will facilitate the establishment of the dedicated manufacturing facility and the associated capital expenditure for producing the specified products.
Neuland Laboratories delivered exceptional financial performance in the June 2026 quarter, with consolidated net profit soaring 962.37% to ₹147.67 crore compared to ₹13.90 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. According to Business Standard, this represents one of the most dramatic profit increases in the pharmaceutical sector during recent quarters, with the company reporting a standalone profit after tax of ₹147.36 crore in Q1FY27, which was lower than ₹212.52 crore in the March 2026 quarter but significantly higher than ₹13.71 crore reported in Q1FY26. The latest results significantly outperformed analyst expectations, with JM Financial estimating a profit outlook of ₹94.1 crore, demonstrating the company's strong operational performance. The quarter was driven by a sharp ramp-up in the Commercial CMS business (+2.3x), led by strong execution across key commercial molecules, while the GDS business also delivered healthy growth supported by both Prime (23%) and Niche (10%) portfolios. According to Business Standard, CEO & MD Saharsh Davuluri stated that "Q1 FY27 was broadly in line with the company's expectations, with encouraging performance from both CMS & GDS businesses, representing a good start to the year."
The company's net sales more than doubled, rising 119.16% YoY to ₹641.58 crore, reflecting strong business momentum during the quarter as reported by Business Standard. This substantial revenue increase significantly outpaced the profit growth, indicating strong operational performance across the company's business segments. However, revenue was 17% lower compared to the March quarter, which the company attributes to the lumpy nature of its CDMO business. The strong year-on-year growth reflects improved performance across business segments and higher contribution from key offerings, with growth led by the Custom Manufacturing and Generic Drug segments according to management commentary. Profit before tax (PBT) surged to ₹197.84 crore in Q1 FY27, up 1,026.01% compared with ₹17.57 crore in the year-ago period, as reported by Business Standard. EBITDA jumped 448.2% YoY to ₹231.1 crore from ₹42.1 crore in the year-ago quarter, representing a growth of 448%. EBITDA margin expanded by 1,250 basis points to 35.5% compared with 14% in the corresponding quarter last year, indicating that earnings grew at a much faster pace than sales during the quarter, supported by improved operating leverage and a favourable product mix.
Management remains confident of 20% plus YoY growth for FY27 and FY28, backed by a robust late-stage pipeline, healthy customer engagement and continued addition of commercial assets. According to Business Standard, CEO & MD Saharsh Davuluri highlighted that "The depth of customer conversations today is significantly stronger, and we are increasingly engaging in broader capability-led discussions rather than individual projects alone. Internally our focus now is on ensuring that we deliver consistently, build customer confidence and establish the foundation for long-term partnerships. Even as we have invested significantly over the last three years and all our significant Capex projects are proceeding according to plan, I believe the intensity of our investments will further increase based on the opportunities that are available to us." JM Financial has revised FY28/29 estimates and expects Neuland to deliver Revenue/EBITDA/APAT compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 21%/29%/33% over FY26–29E, with analysts retaining a 'Buy' rating and valuing the stock at 30x June 2028 EBITDA, yielding a target price of ₹25,819. Saharsh Davuluri emphasized that "While commercial products contributed to most of the revenue, we are seeing exciting developments in terms of the pipeline projects."
